The release of the new James Bond game, 007 First Light, is almost here, and IO Interactive has just released a new trailer. The trailer introduces one of the game’s villains.
The villain in this story is named Bawma, and he lives in Aleph, Mauritania. Surprisingly, he’s portrayed by the famous musician Lenny Kravitz – it’s true!
The choice is unexpected, but it actually aligns with the Bond films’ history of surprising and unconventional casting decisions.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much about Bawma’s overall importance to the story, but he’ll definitely be a key character during the missions happening in Aleph.
The upcoming 007 game, First Light, might feature multiple villains throughout its various locations and missions. While several antagonists could appear, Bawma seems likely to play a key role in the overall story.
We’ll need to wait for IO Interactive to share more information, or until the game is released, to get a definitive answer.
Beyond his hit music, Lenny Kravitz has also acted, most notably as Cinna in the films The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

I’m so excited to see Patrick Gibson, who you might know from shows like Dexter: Original Sin and Shadow and Bone, taking on the role of James Bond! The cast is already shaping up to be amazing, with a lot of actors I recognize.
Priyanga Burford, known for her roles in ‘Industry’ and ‘No Time To Die,’ will play M. Alastair Mackenzie (‘Andor,’ ‘The Crown’) is cast as Q, and Lennie James (‘The Walking Dead’) will portray Greenway.
Gemma Chan, known for her roles in films like Eternals and Crazy Rich Asians, plays Dr. Selina Tan. Kiera Lester, who has appeared in Maigret and Ruby Speaking, portrays Moneypenny, and Noémie Nakai (from Tokyo Vice and Army of Thieves) plays Ms. Roth.
Expect to hear about more actors joining the game’s cast before it comes out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 on March 27, 2026.
You can read an interview with Jonathan Lacaille, the director of the 007 First Light game, to learn more about it. It was a really good conversation!
