Taylor Swift Breaks Down in Tears Over Eras Tour Terror Plot, Stabbing

Some tragedies never truly leave us.

The threats against Taylor Swift, including a terror plot that caused her to cancel concerts in Vienna in August 2024, and a tragic stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop that killed three young girls a month earlier, were deeply upsetting events that will have a lasting impact.

In the first episode of her documentary, Taylor Swift: The End of an Era, Taylor Swift expressed her shock, saying she never imagined anyone would plot a terrorist attack.

The experience deeply affected Taylor, who shared that she was scared before performing her final concerts in Europe after what happened.

She described a strange feeling heading into the final five European shows. After performing 128 shows already, this was the first time she felt truly uneasy, explaining that the tour had experienced a number of frightening and dangerous incidents.

As a longtime fan, it really struck me when she talked about how performing for two decades has changed things. She explained that after twenty years on stage, the biggest new challenge isn’t the performance itself, but the constant worry for the safety of everyone in the audience. It’s something she’s never really had to deal with before, and it’s clearly weighing on her.

Taylor was going through a difficult time and confided in her close friend, Ed Sheeran, about the challenges she faced as she prepared to resume her Eras Tour.

She explained she really needed to focus on enjoying the performance, and reminded him she was planning a two-month escape after the London shows. She wanted to disappear somewhere completely private, feeling like she’d been constantly watched and pursued recently. She just wanted to feel free and untracked.

I remember watching the documentary and being deeply moved by Taylor’s reaction to the Southport stabbing. She first got emotional while talking about what happened, and then again, even more powerfully, after meeting the families affected by the July 2024 attack. It was a really raw and human moment, and it definitely stayed with me.

Her mother, Andrea Swift, told her, “I know you were there for them. Even though it doesn’t feel like it, I know you made a difference.”

Taylor Swift quickly released a statement sharing her sadness after a stabbing attack happened at a yoga and dance class for kids inspired by her music.

She shared on Instagram that she was still reeling from the shocking attack in Southport the day before. She expressed deep sadness over the lives lost, the trauma experienced by those present, and the impact on their families and the first responders who helped.

It just breaks my heart thinking about it. They were such young children, just at dance class, and I honestly don’t know how anyone could possibly offer comfort to those families right now. It’s unimaginable.

Just a few weeks after hearing their story, Taylor invited the families to meet her in London during her tour. She spent time chatting with both the children and their parents.

Although the attempted terror attack and the stabbing incident were deeply upsetting for Taylor, the three shows in Vienna were the only ones canceled during her almost two-year Eras Tour.

The artist behind Life of a Showgirl always wanted to show her appreciation for her fans, as they had supported her greatly.

Taylor Swift explained to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show that once her Eras Tour began, she decided she would perform no matter what. She believes this commitment comes from understanding there’s a purpose greater than herself.

Okay, so she basically told me it was us. Seriously! She knew how much we’d all spent to get there, how many days off work or school we took, how far we traveled… and the bracelets! All those friendship bracelets we made for each other? She said knowing that’s what made her absolutely commit to putting on the show. It was all for us, and she knew it. I’m not crying, you’re crying!

The first episode of The End of an Era featured Taylor Swift discussing the cancellation of her Vienna concerts in August 2024. The concerts were called off after authorities uncovered a terror plot, and two men were arrested in connection with the planned attack.

Honestly, the tour has been incredibly stressful lately. We’ve faced some really frightening and intense situations – it felt like we narrowly avoided a disaster, even a potentially tragic one. It’s left me feeling a bit scattered and overwhelmed, trying to manage everything.

It’s just…it’s still so raw. I mean, just days after those sweet little kids, those babies, were tragically lost during a dance class celebrating Taylor – a class about Taylor! – this happened. It feels like the world is just… cruel. It’s like even when they’re celebrating her, something awful can happen. It’s just… heartbreaking, honestly.

An emotional Taylor shared through tears, “I have a hard time explaining it.”

As someone who believes in the power of connection, I was deeply moved by the recent events in Southport. After my shows at Wembley, I made time to meet privately with the survivors and families affected by the attack. It was incredibly important to me to offer my support and connect with them personally during such a difficult time.

In the documentary, Taylor and her mother, Andrea Swift, were both seen crying after a conversation. Andrea told Taylor, “I know you helped them. It might not feel like it, but I know you did.”

Taylor was very nervous before performing at Wembley Stadium, especially after the recent sad events.

“I just need to do this show,” she told pal Ed Sheeran backstage, “remember the joy of it.”

Taylor went on to explain that after she wraps up her Wembley concerts she’ll have two months off.

She told Ed she needed to disappear, to find a place where she couldn’t be followed. She explained she felt like she was being constantly watched and pursued, and it was making her anxious.

Recent reports confirmed that Taylor Swift generously gave bonuses to all members of her tour crew – including dancers and musicians – after each leg of the tour wrapped up.

Taylor explained that ‘bonus day’ was significant because she wants to establish a pattern of generosity with her Eras Tour.

She explained that crew members receive a larger bonus if the tour is financially successful. She emphasized how hard everyone works and how talented they are, so she personally wrote a handwritten note to each member of the crew. It took her a few weeks, but she enjoyed the process.

And Taylor was on hand to deliver those notes, which brought her team to tears.

Let me tell you, even before he was a regular at Taylor’s concerts, Travis Kelce was just like the rest of us – totally captivated by The Eras Tour! When he wasn’t actually with Taylor, either cheering her on in the audience or even joining her onstage, he was online, digging for details about the shows, just like so many fans. It’s so relatable, right?

Travis told Taylor in a heartwarming phone call before her concerts in Wembley that he really wanted to attend and would be searching online to try and find a way to get tickets.

While putting The Eras Tour together, Taylor turned to a longtime pal for guidance.

I’m such a fan, and I was so excited about the choreography for this project! I immediately thought of Emma Stone – she’s incredible in all her dance roles – and asked her who she’d suggest. She didn’t even hesitate! She told me there was only one person I needed to call: Mandy Moore. It was perfect advice!

As a lifestyle expert, I always love sharing behind-the-scenes tidbits! Many people don’t realize there are two incredibly talented Mandy Moores! The Mandy Moore who’s a choreographer – not the actress you might be thinking of – actually worked with Emma Stone on the beautiful film La La Land back in 2016. It was a fantastic collaboration!

To prevent rehearsal surprises, such as leaked details about special guests like Florence Welch performing “Florida!!!”, Taylor Swift and her band would lower the volume during practice. This way, fans gathered outside the stadiums couldn’t overhear what they were working on.

Taylor explained in the second episode of the docuseries, “Magic of the Eras,” that keeping surprises under wraps is exhausting. “I’m tired just thinking about all the effort!” she said, “But seeing it all come together and actually work is totally worth it.”
