Even though the PlayStation 6 might be released in 2027, Sony is still creating new games for the PlayStation 4, which first came out over ten years ago. Announced at The Game Awards, Mega Man: Dual Override will be available on both PS5 and PS4 in 2027.
The PlayStation 4, which came out in 2013, is getting a brand new game 14 years later – possibly around the same time the PlayStation 6 is released.
Since Capcom isn’t directly tied to any single console maker, they have a lot of freedom in deciding where to release their games. The fact that Mega Man: Dual Override is coming to the original Nintendo Switch probably makes a PlayStation 4 version feasible as well.
Looking ahead, major games still launching with a native PS4 version include:
- Trails beyond the Horizon
- Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties
- DECAPOLICE
Aside from a few select titles, the PlayStation 4 hasn’t received many major new game releases lately. The upcoming game Mega Man: Dual Override is currently the furthest out release scheduled for the system, proving the PS4 will still see new games in 2027 – a full 14 years after its initial launch.
