Alex Horne, the host of Taskmaster, has shared that the upcoming 21st season of the popular show holds a few unexpected treats for viewers.
At the press night for Till The Stars Come Down at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on Wednesday (9th July), I had a delightful chat with TopMob, and when asked about any surprises for fans, I shared: “There are two fresh elements in store. Apart from filming within the house, we’re also shooting somewhere truly extraordinary – a place that’s quite remarkable.
Additionally, he mentioned, “We’ve got an extraordinary visitor for this series hailing from an enchanting locale. You’ll surely recognize them when you see them. That’s as much as I can reveal for now.
Could the enigma in question possibly relate to a character from The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel? Just kidding! However, it’s unclear whom Horne might be hinting towards, but we can certainly say that our curiosity is piqued for season 21.
Currently, supporters of Taskmaster can look forward to the line-up for Season 20, which was recently unveiled following the airing of Season 19’s finale.

As I eagerly anticipate the new season, I find myself in awe of the star-studded cast that’s been assembled for this production. Joining the ranks are familiar faces like Reece Shearsmith and Sanjeev Bhaskar, as well as rising comedic talents such as Ania Magliano, Maisie Adam, and Phil Ellis – all under the watchful eyes of Horne and Greg Davies. This lineup promises an entertaining ride!
Regarding his time on the show, Horne stated: “The next episode is due soon. Things are going smoothly so far. We’re currently in the midst of shooting the upcoming one, and I’m still having a great time with it. I’m still strangely thrilled about it.
In every series, viewers can look forward to a host of amusing obstacles being placed before the cast members. The roster for season 19 included comedians Fatiha El-Ghorri and Stevie Martin, actor Mathew Baytnon from Ghosts, Jason Mantzoukas who was on The Good Place, and broadcaster Rosie Ramsey.
After the winner of Taskmaster season 19 was announced this month, everyone is eagerly anticipating the 20th (and 21st) seasons to determine how they measure up in terms of both humor and talent. At this point, we don’t know much about the cast for season 21, but with Richard Ayoade hinting at potential special guests, we can only wait and find out.
We haven’t reached the announcement just yet, but we expect the lineup for season 21 to be revealed following the completion of season 20, and as of now, its official release date is still undecided.
Typically, seasons of Taskmaster are released in March and September annually. However, since Season 19 premiered slightly later in May, there’s a chance that Season 20 might air later than the usual schedule as well.
