Stalker 2 is receiving a holiday update on December 16th, adding several new quests. Called ‘Stories Untold,’ the update sends players to investigate a strange radio signal that causes headaches. The update also introduces a new location – the Burnt Forest – and a new, silenced rifle to use while relaxing at your campfire.

I was really surprised to see the update announced – it felt a little early, especially since the trailer was hidden as an unlisted video! PlayStation’s blog broke the news, and then the developers, GSC Game World, acknowledged it themselves with some fun eye emojis, confirming it’s also heading to PC, which is awesome.
The latest update features a new storyline with eight quests that can take several hours to finish. Players will explore new areas and meet new characters as they investigate strange occurrences near the Malachite on the western side of the map. The story begins with scientists reporting interference with their communications equipment. Soon, those investigating the signal – the ‘stalkers’ – start experiencing troubling symptoms like headaches, nosebleeds, and hallucinations.
Professor Medulin saw everything happen firsthand, but he lacked the radio expertise to understand the signal and investigate. Luckily, Banzai, a radio hobbyist, joined him to help, though things didn’t go as planned. To begin, you need to listen for an emergency broadcast that will point you towards the Red Forest.
Of course, a new quest calls for a new weapon! This update introduces the GP37V2 rifle, which is a modified version of the GP37. It’s been fitted with a suppressor and altered to fire in single shots or short bursts. The developers emphasize that it’s perfect for players who really focus on tactical gameplay. But don’t worry, you can still use your favorite, reliable weapon if you prefer.
The update will introduce a new safe haven in the Burning Forest, allowing players to rest before continuing their journey. Access to this area will depend on the decisions made while investigating the strange signal.
If you haven’t visited the Zone in a while, be sure to read James’ summary of the recent ‘Expedition’ update. He covers how it improved the A-Life system and changed the gameplay, making things both simpler and more challenging.
