The studio behind the popular game Dead Island 2, Dambuster Studios, has announced they are working on a third installment in the series, Dead Island 3.
I’ve been waiting for a new game in this series for ages, and the developer finally announced it! It’s a bit weird though – they didn’t really make a big deal out of the announcement, which is surprising.
The news comes via a financial report, summing up the company’s year ending March 2025.
Deep Silver Dambuster Studios, with 194 employees, is now fully dedicated to developing Dead Island 3. Development is underway, and the team is rapidly progressing with the game’s design – including its features, characters, world, and story.
The game is currently expected to launch in the first half of 2028, meaning it’s still at least two years from release.
Still, it’s quite exciting to see how the team builds upon what it made with the last game.
Dead Island 2 had a troubled development, being announced way back in 2014. It bounced between several studios before finally being released in 2023.
Good news – it looks like Dead Island 3 won’t take nearly as long to develop as previous games. Are you looking forward to it? Let us know what you think in the comments!
