Marvel Is Bringing Back It’s Best Series Just In Time For Its 25th Anniversary

In 2001, Marvel launched Alias, a groundbreaking series that introduced Jessica Jones, a superhero working as a private investigator. Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, the series brought a more realistic and intense tone to the Marvel Universe. Both Alias and the character of Jessica Jones quickly became popular, and she even starred in her own Netflix show and will reappear in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. Though the original Alias comic ran for 28 issues, ending in 2003, it’s being revisited now.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the comic Alias, Marvel is releasing a new five-issue series called Alias: Red Band. Sam Humphries will write the series, with art by Geraldo Borges, and David Mack will once again create the cover art. Like the original Alias, this series is intended for mature readers and will be packaged in a polybag. The first issue of Alias: Red Band will be available on March 11, 2026.

Alias: Red Band Is Just the Start

Marvel’s upcoming Alias series will continue the tradition of its original creators, Brian Bendis and Alex Gaydos, blending the gritty atmosphere of noir crime mysteries with classic superhero storytelling. Alias: Red Band will center on Jessica Jones as she investigates a disturbing series of murders, and she’ll need assistance to crack the case. She’ll team up with Daredevil and, surprisingly, the supervillain Typhoid Mary, all while navigating personal challenges as the wife of New York City’s mayor, Luke Cage. The series is expected to set up significant storylines for both Luke and Jessica within the broader Marvel Universe in 2026.

According to writer Eve Ewing (speaking with Polygon), Jessica Jones is one of a kind. Ewing praised Jones as intelligent, sarcastic, and incredibly determined. She highlighted that creators Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos really nailed the character’s distinct personality and perspective when they first created her. Ewing is looking forward to exploring more complex and challenging cases for Jessica, and seeing just how far she’ll go to get results.

Could We Be Getting Even More Jessica Jones in Live Action?

The news of a new Alias series will undoubtedly thrill fans, and for good reason. Jessica Jones is a beloved character, and this series will celebrate her 25th anniversary. Plus, it seems Marvel is positioning her for a larger role within the Marvel Universe in 2026. With Jessica already confirmed to appear in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, coming to Disney+ in March, many are speculating that this could lead to even more appearances for the character – possibly even a fourth season of Jessica Jones.

The show Jessica Jones first appeared on Netflix in 2015 and ran for three seasons, with Jessica also appearing in the team-up series The Defenders. Although fans have wanted more of the Marvel shows from Netflix, they’re getting some with Born Again and an upcoming special featuring The Punisher. Now, with a new Alias: Red Band comic book series launching in March, it feels like a good time to potentially bring Jessica Jones back to television, continuing Krysten Ritter’s portrayal of the character and pleasing both comic book readers and fans of the original show.

Alias: Red Band #1 is set to go on sale from Marvel Comics on March 11, 2026.
