The Cold Snap event is now available in ARC Raiders! This guide covers everything you need to succeed, including how to play on the new snow maps, avoid frostbite, finish the Flickering Flames event, locate Candleberries, and earn exclusive outfits and rewards.
How to Play on a Snow Map

When playing on snowy maps, remember that snow isn’t always available on every map at once. The Cold Snap event changes which maps have snow, so you’ll need to specifically choose and join a ‘Cold Snap’ map to play in the winter setting.
Once you’re in, the real challenge begins.
How Frostbite Works
The Cold Snap event introduces a new mechanic called Frostbite.
Spending just a few minutes outside will cause your character to feel the cold. After about a minute, they’ll start to shiver, and as time goes on, you’ll actually see snow collecting on their clothes – a neat visual effect from Embark that isn’t common in other games.
After about three minutes in the cold, frostbite will begin to affect you and your health will gradually decrease. This is a signal to go inside right away.

Okay, so here’s the deal with the cold in this game: as soon as I get inside a building, the damage stops and my character starts warming up. But if I head back out too quickly, I won’t immediately take damage, but I’ll start shivering again and get covered in snow. After a little while, though, the health drain will kick in again, so timing is key!
Okay, so here’s a little trick I learned! If you’ve been playing and your character is covered in snow, don’t rush back outside right away. Just hang tight until all those little snow patches disappear from your character – that’s a good sign it’s safe to go exploring again.
I also tested a few edge cases:
- Standing near a balcony doesn’t trigger frostbite, the game considers it indoors.
- Areas like covered parking with open sides still count as outdoors, so frostbite applies there.
Flickering Flames Event Explained

Next up is the Flickering Flames event.
You can find it by navigating to Raider → Projects → Flickering Flames. The event is broken down into five stages, and each stage asks you to gather certain items, such as:
- Empty wine bottles
- Light bulbs
- Plastic pots
- And a unique item called Candleberries
Let’s talk about where to find those.
Where to Find Candleberries
Candleberries spawn in areas with dense vegetation.
Okay, so if you’re playing on Barry City, I’ve found the best way to find Candleberry trees is to head towards the areas with lots of trees, bushes, and plants – especially around the center of the map. They can be a little tricky to spot, but if you search carefully through all the bushes, you’ll eventually find a Candleberry tree to loot!
As soon as you get your hands on them, put them in a safe place right away. Losing these would be a real problem.
This same strategy works on maps like The Dam. Look for areas with trees and plants – that’s where they’re most likely to be hidden. Just keep searching the bushes, and you’ll eventually find what you’re looking for.
New Outfits & Cosmetics in the Cold Snap Event

The Cold Snap event also adds new outfits, items, and emotes.
The most exciting new item is the Warden Outfit. You can unlock it by completing the Stench of Corruption quest, but it’s part of a longer questline, so you’ll need to finish some earlier quests first.
Completing the Groundbreaking quest unlocks an alternate color variation of the Warden outfit as well.
