The Archers confirmed for live 75th anniversary tour as fans can celebrate beloved radio drama

BBC Radio 4’s The Archers has announced a live tour in 2026 to mark its 75th anniversary.

This exciting new live show will take the popular radio drama out of the recording studio and onto stages throughout the UK. Comedian Angela Barnes will host, and each performance will feature different actors from the show, along with a BBC expert and someone creating sound effects live on stage.

Celebrating 75 years on the air, The Archers: Live will be a special event held as if it’s the annual Ambridge Flower & Produce Show. Expect interviews with the cast, behind-the-scenes stories, fun gossip, and live performances complete with sound effects.

The show will also feature exciting finds from our archives, covering seven decades of history. Plus, there will be a chance for the audience to ask questions, participate in a fun pub quiz inspired by the Bull pub, and sing along to the show’s iconic theme song.

This event will be a unique and dramatic celebration of the series. It’s designed to welcome new listeners and give longtime fans a special behind-the-scenes look at how the world of Ambridge is made – from the characters and stories to the instantly recognizable sound that defines the show.

The live tour is slated to run from June to November 2026.

In a statement, Barnes expressed their excitement about hosting ‘The Archers: Live at 75’. As a lifelong and devoted fan of the show and the world of Ambridge, they described the opportunity as a dream come true – like winning a top prize at the village flower show and landing the main role in a play directed by Lynda Snell. They are thrilled to spend time with their favorite characters and fully experience life in Borsetshire.

As a huge Archers fan, I’m so excited to hear they’re doing a live show! Alison Hindell from BBC Radio 4 said it’s all about giving us even more of what we love – a real deep dive into life in Ambridge. The team at Fane, who are putting on the event, are just as thrilled to share this with fans who’ve been listening for years. They haven’t announced all the cast members who’ll be there yet, but I’m already counting down the days!

The Archers is a radio drama that’s been on the air since 1951, making it the longest-running daily drama of its kind in the world.

Created by Godfry Baseley, the drama takes place in the made-up village of Ambridge, home to the Archer family and their farm. From the very beginning, it has documented major shifts in British society and culture.

You can listen to The Archers on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds.
