The show was confirmed for a second season in May, even before the first episode aired. That first episode attracted 270,000 viewers, representing a 2.5% share of the audience at that time. This is a significant improvement over the channel’s usual benchmark of 43,000 viewers (0.3%).

I’m so excited for season 2! They’ve added some amazing new faces to the cast – you’ll recognize Jason Watkins from “McDonald & Dodds,” Miranda Richardson who was brilliant in “Blackadder,” and even Simon Callow who’s been in “Doctor Who!” Rupert Graves (from “Sherlock”), Claire Skinner who I loved in “Outnumbered,” Youssef Kerkour of “Gavin & Stacey,” and Ricky Champ from “EastEnders” are joining too. The cast is incredible!

The new episodes will also feature appearances by Allan Corduner (known for his role in Tár), Liza Sadovy (from Patience), Oli Fyne (of Call the Midwife), Ingrid Oliver (starring in The Thursday Murder Club), and John Hopkins (who appeared in A Very Royal Scandal).

Season two of Bookish finds Book delving into the world of spiritualism. He’s called upon to investigate a puzzling case centered around medium Harold Sneed, played by Watkins.

Just off Savile Row, Bliss enlists Book’s help with a perplexing murder at a men’s clothing shop. The elderly tailor, Maxie Kleinmann (played by Corduner), insists he’s the killer, but the facts don’t add up, suggesting a much more complicated and disturbing situation.

Book and Jack are dispatched to the idyllic German village of Würl by a shadowy figure known only as ‘E’ (Callow). Their mission: stop a Duchess (Richardson) from stealing something during the Christmas season. But the holiday cheer quickly fades when Book and Jack stumble upon unsettling secrets – both from their own histories and within the walls of a foreboding castle filled with people who could be murderers.

Book’s work with the police puts him in constant danger, and his marriage of convenience to his childhood friend, Trottie Walker, is jeopardized by the charming Colonel Winters. This stylish detective drama blends the longing for the past with the exciting, carefree spirit of the post-war era, offering a unique take on the period genre.
