Looking for something unique to watch this holiday season? Peacock has you covered. The streaming service is adding some recently released movies from Universal and Focus Features before the end of the year. Jordan Peele’s new horror film, Him, was added just yesterday, and an even more unusual – and highly-rated – movie will be available next week.
Peacock announced today that the critically acclaimed film Bugonia, starring Emma Stone and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (known for Poor Things), will be available to stream starting December 26th – that’s just a week away! The film, which premiered in theaters in October, has received rave reviews from both critics and audiences.
I just finished watching Bugonia, and it’s… a trip. It’s loosely based on a South Korean film from 2003 called Save the Green Planet!, and centers around a guy convinced a major CEO is actually an alien. Honestly, the less you know going in, the better. Trying to explain the plot beyond that would ruin the experience – it’s one of those movies you really need to see with a completely open mind.
I’m really excited about Bugonia! It’s got an amazing cast – Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons are leading the way, and you’ve also got Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and even Alicia Silverstone joining them. It’s shaping up to be something special!
