Lily Allen Describes Daughters’ Relationship With Ex David Harbour

Lily Allen isn’t getting involved in her daughters’ relationship with her ex David Harbour.

After splitting from her husband of four years in February, singer Lily Allen revealed that her ex, actor David Harbour, still maintains a relationship with her daughters, Ethel, 14, and Marnie, 12, whom she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper.

But as Lily told The Observer in an interview published Dec. 20, “I stay out of it.”

The 40-year-old singer, who hinted at cheating in her relationship on her latest album, West End Girl, shared that her children are able to maintain a relationship with David, 50, independently.

“They’ve both got phones,” she continued. “They all text each other.”

Soon after David married Lily in September 2020, he talked about how Ethel and Marnie had helped him adjust to becoming a father figure.

He told People magazine that December he was dating three women, each of whom saw him differently. He explained that committing to a relationship—something he hadn’t done consistently throughout his life—was a significant step for him. He added that it made him feel more mature and confident as a man.

Lily has discussed how her relationship with her children has been affected by her breakup with the actor known for Hellboy. Soon after they separated, she went to a mental health facility, sharing that wanting to be a good mother was a major reason she decided to get help.

She explained on her podcast, Miss Me?, with Miquita Oliver, that she’s facing a challenging time and needs to be strong for her loved ones. She felt increasingly unable to support them the way they needed.

She admitted she wasn’t perfect, and might never be, but emphasized that she was definitely improving and feeling more confident.
