All Creatures Great and Small favourite Siegfried given some needed Christmas advice in exclusive first-look clip

Christmas has arrived in Darrowby, and while the village happily celebrates its first peaceful holiday season in a long time, Siegfried still has plenty of work to do.

This year’s holiday special of All Creatures Great and Small features the vet returning to Mrs. Stokes’s farm – a place he’s visited before, including in seasons 4 and 6 – to check on Hilda, her mischievous goat.

It wasn’t long before the conversation shifted to Christmas, and Siegfried asked if she was excited about it.

Wishful thinking, eh, Mrs Stokes?

“And what about you?” she asks Siegfried, who is thrilled that “everyone’s home this year”.

“I’m rather looking forward to it,” he adds.

Mrs. Stokes then gently reminded him of how lonely he’d been when he was left alone in the large house – while Tristan was away fighting, James was staying with Helen at Heston, and Mrs. Hall had returned to Sunderland.

She continued, saying you should cherish these moments, because nothing lasts forever – especially not people.

A sobering thought, indeed.

You can watch the conversation in the video at the top of this page.

And Siegfried isn’t the only one attending to very important business this festive season.

I’m really looking forward to this! It sounds like Helen’s not well, so James has taken on the huge task of organizing the village Nativity play. Apparently, he’s finding it tough balancing getting everything ready for the play with his work as a vet. And to make things even more complicated, there’s a question of whether Tricki, his little dog, will actually become a dad! It sounds like a charmingly chaotic story.

Mrs. Hall gets the Skeldale team ready for the Drovers’ darts tournament, and Tristan rushes to decorate the Christmas tree with Charlotte’s help. As familiar faces return and people share meaningful conversations, the holiday season brings joy, thoughtful moments, and a few unexpected events.
