Tenacious D: Kyle Gass Dropped By Agent After Controversial Comment

As a long-time fan of Tenacious D and someone who has followed their career closely, I was deeply disappointed to hear about the recent turn of events that led to the cancellation of their tour. Kyle Gass’s improvised comment during a concert in Sydney was a severe lapse in judgment and one that has had far-reaching consequences. I have always admired the duo for their unique brand of comedy and music, and it’s disheartening to see this incident overshadowing their talent.

Kyle Gass, once represented by Hollywood agent Michael Greene and his firm, Greene Talent, is currently agent-less. This development comes after reports of Tenacious D’s tour cancellation and a pause in any future collaborations between Gass and Jack Black. Over the weekend, an attempted humorous comment regarding the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump resulted in significant career repercussions for Gass.

In a surprising turn of events at the show on Sunday, something was said that left me reeling. I strongly denounce hate speech and advocate against political violence under any circumstances. After careful consideration, I have decided to suspend the Tenacious D tour and put all future creative projects on hold for now. I am thankful for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.

Since Black’s comments, Gass has issued his own apology.

I deeply regret the unfortunate incident that transpired during my performance in Sydney last Sunday night. The words that came out of my mouth were not part of the script, and in hindsight, I can see now that they were highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a grave error in judgment. I want to make it clear that I unequivocally condemn any form of violence against anyone. The consequences of my actions were a tragedy, and I’m truly sorry for the pain and disappointment I’ve caused to those who looked up to me. As someone who has spent years building a career in this industry, I know the importance of using my platform responsibly and with care. This mistake is a reminder of the immense responsibility that comes with being in the public eye, and I will strive to learn from it and grow as an artist and as a person. Once again, I deeply apologize for any harm caused, and I will do everything in my power to make things right.

During a Tenacious D performance in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, several remarks were made. Unfortunately, the rest of their tour has been called off. The itinerary included stops in more Australian and New Zealand cities to finish up July. Afterward, they planned to head back to the US for shows in Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania in October.

Frontier Touring, the organization behind the Tenacious D and the Spicy Meatball Tour in Australia and New Zealand, has released a statement with guidelines for fans. Refunds will reportedly be offered in the near future due to the postponement of the US leg of the tour, which was scheduled for this autumn.
