Rumour: Persona 6 Release Is Way Closer Than Most People Think

Everyone is wondering when Persona 6 will come out – could it be next year, 2028, or even further down the line? With only a very short teaser available, it seems like we’re still quite a ways off from release.

There’s some exciting news for Persona fans! A rumor started when a video game translator mentioned on Tumblr that they might be working on Persona 6, and it’s quickly gained a lot of attention within the community.

Typically, work on adapting games for different regions—often called localisation—doesn’t really start until late in the development process. For example, at Atlus, translators usually begin their work around a year before the game is released.

If the rumors are true, Persona 6 is currently aiming for a release sometime in the latter half of 2027.

So, it’s kinda funny, people have been talking about Persona 6 for ages – like, all the way back to last year! The rumors said it might drop in September 2027, and honestly, things are starting to feel like that could actually happen… maybe. It’s still just speculation, but it’s getting me hyped!

Considering the game is about a year away from release, why was the initial trailer so unclear? It’s probably because Atlus wants to avoid taking attention away from the upcoming release of Persona 4 Golden on other platforms.

The new version of the game comes out on February 18th, so SEGA will be focusing all of its marketing efforts on that launch first. After that, we can almost certainly expect to hear news about Persona 6.

This release plan makes sense for business reasons, following Atlus’ pattern from 2024. They released Persona 3 Reload in February and then Metaphor: ReFantazio in October, and this new game seems to be following a similar schedule.
