He has an amazing gallery of villains and supporting characters, and he’s been part of some truly iconic storylines. But beyond the great stories, comics are all about the action, right? And Spider-Man delivers! I love how his fights are so dynamic – it’s not just about strength, it’s his incredible agility and acrobatics. Plus, every villain he faces brings something different and challenging to the table. People often focus on his humor and flips, but don’t forget, Spider-Man’s battles can be seriously intense and epic!

Let’s take a look at five of the toughest, most intense fights Spider-Man has ever been in. With so many battles over the years, it was hard to pick just a few! We also want to give a shout-out to some other memorable scraps, like his battles against Juggernaut, his fights with Tombstone, and the final showdown with Carnage in the Maximum Carnage storyline. Spider-Man has faced countless challenges, but these five fights really stand out as exceptionally brutal – they make most of his other battles seem easy by comparison.

5) Peter Parker: Spider-Man #25 — “Trick of the Light”

Many of Spider-Man’s battles with the Green Goblin are incredibly intense, but one stands out because of how much Peter Parker was pushed to his limits, both physically and emotionally. Norman Osborn had captured and tortured him for weeks, trying to break his spirit and turn him into a villain like himself. Despite the immense pain, Spider-Man never gave in. Finally, when Norman threatened Peter’s nephew, Normie, Spider-Man snapped and defeated the Green Goblin.

This fight wasn’t about tactics or cleverness, just a brutal brawl between two equally matched opponents. They simply hammered away at each other with everything they had. Spider-Man ultimately overpowered the Goblin, but Norman mocked Peter, claiming he’d broken him, even briefly. Norman then fled, leaving Peter devastated and defeated on the floor. It felt like a loss for both of them.

4) The Amazing Spider-Man #637 — “The Grim Hunt” Part 4

Spider-Man is known for his kindness and willingness to show mercy, but even he has a breaking point. The story “Kraven’s Last Hunt” famously showed Kraven the Hunter burying Spider-Man alive and impersonating him before taking his own life. In the follow-up, “The Grim Hunt,” the Kravinoff family brought Kraven back to life by capturing and tormenting those they blamed for his death – Spider-Man’s allies and family. They sacrificed Kaine, an imperfect clone of Spider-Man, to resurrect Kraven, and this act ultimately pushed Spider-Man too far.

You should never threaten Spider-Man’s loved ones. After Spider-Man revealed his identity during Civil War, Kingpin ordered an attack that nearly killed Aunt May. Fueled by rage, Peter Parker put on his black suit – a symbol of his most brutal side – and relentlessly hunted down the person responsible. He discovered it was Fist and stormed a prison to force a confrontation. It wasn’t a fair fight; Spider-Man utterly destroyed him.

Peter thoroughly defeated Kingpin, skillfully dodging every attack and relentlessly mocking him. He even removed his Spider-Man costume, declaring that while Spider-Man wouldn’t kill, Peter Parker might. He humiliated Kingpin, physically dominating him and repeatedly slapping him. Peter threatened to kill Kingpin by filling his lungs with webbing if Aunt May were to die, but ultimately left him broken and defeated. This was Spider-Man at his most brutal and dangerous, delivering the most intense beating he’s ever inflicted. Morlun is Spider-Man’s most challenging enemy, a hunter who travels between dimensions to prey on beings like him. His return from what seemed like certain death coincided with Spider-Man becoming mysteriously ill. Facing a rapidly deteriorating condition, Spider-Man fought Morlun with all his power, but it wasn’t enough. While Spider-Man can usually match the strength of villains like the Rhino, Morlun was different – he easily withstood everything Spider-Man threw at him and retaliated with overwhelming force.

Peter Parker, as Spider-Man, fought Morlun with everything he had – from ramming trucks into him to relentlessly punching until his hands were broken. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t even injure the monster, and Morlun responded by brutally ripping out one of Spider-Man’s eyes. Morlun continued the attack, nearly killing Spider-Man and only stopping to prolong the fight. The battle lasted over twelve hours, and whenever Peter managed to pull away, Morlun would force him back by threatening the lives of innocent people.

He was ultimately saved by Ezekiel’s sacrifice, which bought him enough time to realize Morlun was vulnerable to radiation. The fight was incredibly brutal, pushing both Spider-Man and Morlun to their absolute limits and causing more damage than either had ever sustained. Spider-Man poured everything he had into securing this hard-won victory. Though battered, injured, and exhausted, he found the strength to persevere and ultimately save the day – a true testament to what it means to be a hero.
