What, like it’s hard for Reese Witherspoon to get into the holiday spirit?
The Academy Award-winning actress recently shared a cheerful look at her family’s holiday celebrations, including some seldom-seen photos of her and her three children, who all strongly resemble her.
Reese Witherspoon shared some sweet photos on Instagram on December 21st, showing her enjoying the holiday season with her three children: Ava Philippe (26), Deacon Philippe (22), and Tennessee Toth (13). Ava and Deacon’s father is Ryan Philippe, and Tennessee’s father is Jim Toth, from whom she is divorced.
Reese Witherspoon shared a series of photos, starting with a striking image of herself and her daughter Ava looking like twins in coordinating black and silver outfits. Another photo showed her son Deacon playfully towering over her in a mirror selfie. She also included a sweet FaceTime screenshot of herself and Tennessee, both looking surprised while enjoying a snowy day.
As she captioned the post alongside a red heart and Christmas tree emoji, “Making Merry.”
The festive spirit continued with photos of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, an impressive gingerbread house, and a picture of Reese with her friend and Big Little Lies co-star, Laura Dern.
Although Reese Witherspoon generally keeps her family life private, she’s openly discussed the challenges of being a working mother, particularly the difficulties of raising her children while pursuing her acting career.
Reese Witherspoon recently shared on Instagram what it was like balancing motherhood with her Hollywood career. She explained that it meant a lot of time spent together in trailers and constantly traveling as a family, as shown in some throwback photos she posted with her kids.
As the star of The Morning Show pointed out, raising children while constantly in the public eye also meant a very busy, never-ending schedule.
She described times when the work was incredibly difficult, even causing her to cry. She often worked extremely long hours – between 14 and 17 a day, sometimes all night – and still had to wake up early to drive her children, Ava and Deacon, to their activities. She admitted to being completely exhausted.
She explained that she always tried to talk about the good parts of her job when she got home, wanting her kids to understand that she found her work fulfilling and enjoyable.
But even with its many hurdles, the Reese’s Book Club founder wouldn’t have changed a thing.
She finished by saying that despite the difficulties of raising children, they helped her realize what truly mattered. The best part of her day was always coming home to hug them and hear about what they’d been up to.
