Supernatural Is Officially Streaming on Peacock

The show concluded after 15 seasons in 2020, much to the dismay of its fans. Recently, it received another blow when Supernatural was removed from Netflix.

Fortunately, after leaving its original streaming platform, Supernatural quickly found new homes. It became available on Prime Video on December 1st, and then all fifteen seasons also launched on Peacock on December 22nd.

The popular fantasy horror series began in 2005, centering on brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they tracked down demons, ghosts, and other creatures while searching for their missing father. Over its 15 seasons, the show became a huge hit, running until November 19, 2020, and totaling 327 episodes.

Created by Eric Kripke, the show featured Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester and Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester. As the series went on, it added several other key characters, like Misha Collins as the angel Castiel, Alexander Calvert as Jack Kline, Jim Beaver as the beloved Bobby Singer, and Mark Sheppard as Crowley.

Initially, Supernatural followed brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they searched for their father, John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), tackling a different monster each week. The show later evolved, introducing larger, season-long threats like the apocalypse, Lucifer, and ultimately, even God.

The fantasy horror series on The CW was critically acclaimed, maintaining a remarkable 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes throughout its 15 seasons. Notably, nine of those seasons achieved a perfect 100% score. Viewers gave the show a 73% rating.

As a long-time fan, it bummed me out to see Supernatural leave Netflix after being there for over ten years! Apparently, The CW had a deal where Netflix could stream it for five years after the show ended, and that time was up. It wasn’t just Supernatural either – The Vampire Diaries and Arrow disappeared the same day, which was a real blow since they both finished airing back in 2020. Now you can find them over on Peacock.

Before moving to Peacock, the show Supernatural gained popularity on digital platforms, reaching the top 6 on the U.S. Apple TV store charts. Now, viewers have two options for streaming all 15 seasons of the series.

Supernatural Received a Spinoff

The popular fantasy horror series tried launching several spinoffs over its 15 years. One attempt involved a potential spinoff that began as an episode within the main series – specifically, Season 9, Episode 20 – but The CW network ultimately decided not to move forward with it.

Honestly, after watching the show for so long, I kept hearing about all these potential spin-offs they were kicking around. There was one idea focused on Samuel Colt, taking us back to the Wild West, and another that I actually thought had a lot of promise – a series following the female hunters we’ve come to know and love. Interestingly, they even snuck a sort of test episode for the women hunters’ show into Season 13 to see if it would catch on.

Although initial plans for a second series didn’t come to fruition, Supernatural did get a prequel spinoff. This new show followed the story of Sam and Dean Winchester’s parents, John and Mary. Jensen Ackles narrated as his character, Dean Winchester, and also worked as a producer on the show, alongside his wife, Danneel Ackles, and Supernatural writer Robbie Thompson.

The Winchester was not as successful as the original series, and was canceled after one season.

Supernatural is streaming on Prime Video and Peacock.
