Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella Dies in Car Crash

Vince Zampella, the CEO and co-founder of Respawn Entertainment, tragically died in a car accident on December 21st. According to NBC4, he lost control of his vehicle on Angeles Crest Highway and collided with a barrier.

The crash happened at 12:45 PM and sadly resulted in two deaths. The driver died in a fire that broke out after the impact, and the passenger died later at the hospital after being thrown from the car. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but video from witnesses shows the vehicle – a 2026 Ferrari 296 GTS driven by Zampella – leaving a tunnel just before the crash.

Jason Zampella, a well-known figure in the gaming world, was 55 years old. He first gained prominence by co-founding Infinity Ward with Jason West and Grant Collier, the studio behind the hugely successful Call of Duty games. Later, Zampella and West created Respawn Entertainment, which is famous for games like Titanfall, Apex Legends, and the Star Wars: Jedi series.

He was appointed CEO of Ripple Effect Studios, previously known as DICE LA, and took charge of the Battlefield series. Under his leadership, Battlefield 6 was released and quickly became a success, selling over seven million copies within its first three days.
