In the world of “One Piece,” there’s an abundance of unanswered questions, and after two decades, fans are still far from solving any of the series’ mysteries. One puzzle that has intrigued fans since its introduction is Rocks D. Xebec, a past rival of Gol D. Roger, and the elusive captain of the notorious Rocks Pirates. Members of this crew included future Yonko like Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido. Although we’ve learned more about the Rocks Pirates in recent story arcs, their enigmatic leader has remained a mystery, with his powers and appearance still unknown. However, the latest chapter of “One Piece” has finally shed some light on this mysterious figure.
Continuing from Loki’s flashback in One Piece, Chapter 1154 sheds light on Loki’s initial encounter with Rocks D. Xebec, unveiling his appearance concurrently. This chapter depicts Xebec, Whitebeard, Stussy, and Shiki setting foot on Elbaf for what seems to be the first time. Intriguingly, Xebec consults a young Loki to verify if this island is indeed Elbaf and queries about King Harald’s location. Crucially, Chapter 1154 discloses that Rocks is Blackbeard’s father, resembling Teech in appearance, albeit with two-toned hair and a goatee.
One Piece Finally Reveals Rocks D. Xebec in Full
Since Sengoku first mentioned Rocks in Chapter 957, it’s not an exceptionally long wait considering the secretive nature of the series. With around 200 chapters separating Rocks’ initial appearance and full disclosure, this is a reasonable gap by One Piece standards. However, fans have been waiting almost six years for the full reveal, which was first hinted at in silhouettes throughout the series.
For several years now, Xebec has been at the heart of numerous speculations, one intriguing notion being that he might be Buggy’s father. However, Chapter 1154 effectively debunked this idea, yet some followers remain optimistic due to Rocks’ hair potentially being blue like Buggy’s. The official color scheme for Rocks remains unknown until his appearance in either the next volume cover of “One Piece” or the anime, but it is still worth pondering over the possible link between Buggy given the similarity in the lower half of Rocks’ face in the final panel to Buggy’s notorious grin.
Surprisingly, it’s no wonder that we’re finally getting a glimpse of Rocks D. Xebec now, particularly since this flashback focuses on Harald and Loki, with Loki admiring Rocks as his role model. It’s clear that Rocks is going to be pivotal in Loki’s past, though it seems he might have connections with Harald too. Frankly, the introduction of Rocks has only intensified my anticipation for the Elbaf Arc even more! I can hardly wait to see how One Piece will keep setting new standards as the story unfolds in the upcoming chapters.
