Pluribus just went nuclear.
In the season one finale of the AppleTV+ show, Rhea Seehorn’s character, Carol Sturka—described as incredibly unhappy—prepared to fight back against her enemies after learning her freedom from the mind-control virus might not last.
Carlos Vesga, known as Manousos, finally found Carol in Albuquerque after a difficult trip from Paraguay. He’s one of only thirteen people worldwide who haven’t been infected with the virus. Although they didn’t immediately get along, Carol and Manousos agreed that extreme action was necessary to save humanity. Carol then revisited a question from an earlier episode: would the Others provide her with an atomic bomb if she asked? The answer turned out to be yes.
We’ll find out Carol’s plans in the second season of the show. Recently, stars Rhea and Karolina Wydra (who plays Zosia) spoke with TopMob News and discussed fan theories. One popular idea online is that Carol might be an alien, which could explain why she’s immune to the virus.
Rhea’s reaction? “I don’t think so,” she said with a laugh. “But sure, hold onto that.”
The actress also talked about a fan theory suggesting her character could become part of a collective consciousness, but would eventually be rejected due to her pessimistic attitude.
“Oh my god, that’s hilarious,” Rhea told TopMob. “That would be fun.”

Rhea doesn’t think the theory that Carol’s experiences were all a dream is likely. Having collaborated with creator Vince Gilligan on both Pluribus and Better Call Saul, she feels he’d view that kind of resolution as unsatisfying and a letdown for the audience.
Oh my gosh, Karolina is just living for the fan reaction, and honestly, so am I! She told TopMob she’s obsessed with all the discussions people are having about the show – like, actually thinking about what’s happening, not just passively watching! She even told Vince that he’s created something truly special, something that makes people think instead of just zoning out. Isn’t that amazing? I mean, she’s so right! It’s not just entertainment, it’s…it’s art! And she gets it!

Rhea, nominated for a Golden Globe in 2026 for her work in Pluribus, admitted she doesn’t know what show creator Vince Gilligan has in store. However, with the world facing a crisis and Carol now incredibly powerful, the second season is set to have worldwide repercussions.
