With Christmas just around the corner, television channels are offering comforting shows to lift spirits, and few things are better than settling in to watch an episode of The Great British Sewing Bee.
This Christmas, Patrick Grant and Esme Young are back to judge a new group of celebrities as they compete in sewing challenges.
Sophie Willan will host the show, welcoming guests Lucy Beaumont, known from The Celebrity Traitors, Anton Du Beke from Strictly Come Dancing, Susan Wokoma of Taskmaster, and Tom Wilson, a Gladiator.
Get ready to meet the four talented sewers competing in The Great Christmas Sewing Bee 2025, where they’ll tackle some challenging and holiday-themed creations.

Lucy Beaumont
Age: 42

Lucy Beaumont is a comedian who first gained recognition as a finalist on the ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ competition in 2011. She then went on to win the BBC Radio New Comedy Awards, further establishing her career.
In 2020, Lucy Beaumont created and starred in the comedy series Meet the Richardsons alongside her husband at the time, Jon Richardson. The next year, Channel 4 ordered a new comedy series called Hullraisers, which she co-wrote with Anne-Marie O’Connor and Caroline Moran.
Beaumont has been on several entertainment programs, such as Taskmaster, Would I Lie to You?, and most recently, The Celebrity Traitors.
Anton Du Beke
Age: 59
Job: Ballroom dancer

Anton Du Beke is famous for being on Strictly Come Dancing, where he’s been a professional dancer since the show began in 2004. In 2021, he became a judge on the show, taking over from Bruno Tonioli.
Before joining Strictly Come Dancing, Anton Du Beke regularly partnered with Erin Boag. Together, they also coached the ballroom dancing team at Cambridge University. They were noticed by the show’s producers in 2004 and were a highly-ranked professional ballroom dancing duo, sitting at 14th in the world at the time.
Anton Du Beke is known as a professional dancer, but he’s also a musician. He released his first album, ‘From the Top,’ in November 2017, and it surprisingly climbed to number 21 on the UK album charts.
He’s also written a series of novels over the years, all taking place at the Buckingham Hotel and featuring the characters Raymond and Nancy. These books include One Enchanted Evening, Moonlight over Mayfair, A Christmas to Remember, We’ll Meet Again, and The Ballroom Blitz.
Susan Wokoma
Age: 37
Job: Actress and writer

I’m a big fan of Susan Wokoma! You probably know her – she’s been in some really great stuff like Enola Holmes, the hilarious Chewing Gum, and The Beautiful Game. She’s a fantastic actress and writer, and I always enjoy seeing her on screen.
In 2017, Wokoma was recognized as a rising talent by BAFTA and has consistently delivered strong work in the industry since then.
Wokoma recently wrote and directed the short film Dark Skin Bruises Differently, which had its first showing at the BFI London Film Festival.
Honestly, as a film lover, all I really want is to work with passionate people on projects we all genuinely believe in – you know, where everyone’s committed and we actually finish what we start. It feels like artists have a real responsibility right now, to cut through all the noise and figure out what’s actually meaningful. And, naturally, I’d love to collaborate with people who aren’t, well, terrible – that’s the ideal, isn’t it?
Tom Wilson
