Beloved sci-fi series set to return to Netflix with all 10 seasons after 3 years away

The popular sci-fi show Stargate SG-1, which first ran from 1997 to 2007, is returning to Netflix after being absent for several years.

All ten seasons of the show will become available on Netflix in the US and several other countries starting on February 15th, 2026. The UK is confirmed as one of the countries where you’ll be able to watch it.

Stargate SG-1 picks up where the 1994 film Stargate left off, continuing the story of an ancient alien gateway that allows people to travel to other planets.

Picking up about a year after the original movie, the series centers on Colonel Jack O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) and his team as they travel to different planets using the Stargate. The team includes archaeologist Dr. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), astrophysicist Major Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), and Teal’c (Christopher Judge), a former adversary who joins them after turning against the Goa’uld, a race of parasitic beings.

The show’s popularity grew, leading to spin-offs like Stargate Atlantis, which took place in the legendary city of Atlantis in another galaxy, and Stargate Universe, focusing on the adventures aboard an old spaceship. The original SG-1 team’s story eventually concluded with two TV movies, The Ark of Truth and Continuum.

Stargate SG-1 previously streamed on Netflix in the US, before being removed in December 2022.

When the news of the Stargate Atlantis revival broke last November, it really hit me. Twenty years ago, that show was my very first professional gig in television – I was a Story Editor, and it launched my career. It’s a project I’ll always cherish, and seeing it come back feels incredibly special.

My five years with the Stargate franchise taught me everything I know about television production – it truly shaped my understanding of the process.

He expressed his excitement and gratitude that Amazon MGM Studios chose him to lead the franchise forward.

As a longtime fan, I can honestly say this installment feels like a thank you to everyone who’s kept the flame alive through conventions, re-watches, and sheer dedication. But even if you’re just discovering this world, trust me – you’re about to experience something truly special. It’s a fantastic entry point, and I think newcomers are going to be blown away.
