Chrissie Watts is returning to EastEnders, and her arrival is likely to cause trouble for some characters during the Christmas season.
The popular character made a dramatic return at the end of tonight’s episode, and it was revealed she was the one responsible for making Zoe Slater’s life difficult.
This Christmas is going to be dramatic for the Slater and Moon families. They’re unexpectedly joined by Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness), the long-lost daughter of Zoe, who everyone believed was deceased.

For Oberman, the offer to reprise her role again was just something she couldn’t resist.
I really loved being back on the show last year with Sharon (Letitia Dean), so when the producer, Ben Wadey, asked me to make a Christmas Day appearance, it was impossible to refuse, she said.
Chrissie is a fantastic character, and I’m excited about the possibility of her coming back at Christmas to stir things up.
Chrissie’s actions against Zoe appear to be rooted in a long-standing, twenty-year grudge. As fans may remember, Chrissie killed her husband, Den, in The Queen Vic pub, but let Zoe think she was the one who did it.

According to Oberman, Chrissie has long believed her 20-year prison sentence was unjust and continues to struggle with the trauma of her experiences with Dirty Den and life in Walford.
She was thrilled when she found out she could get back at Zoe Slater, whom she’d always disliked, and it seemed she had plenty of free time to do so.
Chrissie is a strong and resilient person, but she deeply believes Zoe never faced proper consequences for her involvement in Den’s death and the damage she caused to the Watts family.

We can likely expect future episodes to reveal how Chrissie and Jasmine met and developed their close relationship over the past three months.
Oberman explains that what began as a simple pastime for Chrissie has turned into a strong focus for her. Discovering this beautiful woman, who also suffered because of Zoe, felt like an opportunity Chrissie couldn’t pass up.
She really cares about Jasmine, almost like a daughter. I believe she wants to help Jasmine get back at the person who left her. Chrissie also feels Zoe needs to own up to her actions, and that’s what’s driving her.

The plot brings Oberman back together with both Ryan and Kim Medcalf, who plays Sam Mitchell, recreating the scene with the three women present at the Vic on the night of Den’s death.
“I spent so much time with them in my short but powerful stint on EastEnders,” she reflected.
It was incredibly emotional being back at The Queen Vic with Michelle and Kim. We spent a lot of time hugging and realizing how much time had passed since we last saw each other. We had so much to share – photos of our kids, and updates on everything that’s happened in our lives over the past twenty years. It’s been a truly wonderful experience.
This episode highlighted EastEnders’ strengths: compelling stories driven by powerful women supporting – and clashing with – each other, creating captivating drama.
