After more than nine years, the anime My Hero Academia finished its run in December, marking the end of a highly acclaimed period for action-adventure series. The anime, which began in April 2016 and was based on Kohei Horikoshi’s popular Weekly Shonen Jump manga, gained fans worldwide thanks to its creative power system, compelling storyline, and memorable characters. The series concludes with the heroes successfully ending the difficult and devastating Final War against All For One and Tomura Shigaraki, and begins the process of rebuilding society while acknowledging the lasting impact of the conflict.
To celebrate Christmas Eve, My Hero Academia shared a heartwarming image of young Izuku and Katsuki looking up at a Santa-suited All Might. All Might, in his hero form, is carrying a huge bag of presents, and it’s currently Izuku and Katsuki’s turn to receive them! The anime’s official X account posted the image as a holiday greeting to fans, and it quickly became very popular, earning tens of thousands of likes in just a few hours. With the story recently concluding on a poignant note, fans are enjoying the holidays, and the anime is set to return next year with a special treat.
My Hero Academia Anime’s Return Will Adapt a Special Chapter For Fans

Next year marks the 10th anniversary of the anime, and exciting news was revealed at Jump Festa 2026! A dedicated website has launched to share updates about the anniversary and future plans. The biggest announcement is a special new episode of the anime, set to debut globally on May 2nd, 2026.
The special episode, called “More,” is based on chapter 431 of the manga, which was first published in Japan last December as part of the final volume. It became available in English this October. This extra chapter takes place after the timeskip and shows what the students of Class 1-A, the Big Three, and the pro heroes are up to, focusing mainly on Ochako Uraraka and revealing their new hero rankings. It provides a final look at these characters as the story concludes.
This new episode takes place after the events of the main story, with all the U.A. students now working as professional heroes. It will be available worldwide on Crunchyroll, which also has all eight seasons of the anime. So far, no preview or images of the episode have been released. The website hints at at least two more announcements coming soon, and possibly more beyond that. With a few months still to go until the anniversary, we might hear more details in the first few months of next year.
