Thunderbolts* Star Sebastian Stan Pushes Back Against Critics Insulting Marvel Movies

Thunderbolts* Star Sebastian Stan Pushes Back Against Critics Insulting Marvel Movies

As a seasoned gamer and movie-goer who has witnessed the evolution of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since its inception, I wholeheartedly agree with Sebastian Stan‘s sentiments regarding Marvel Studios. It’s easy to jump on the bandwagon and criticize the behemoth franchise, but let’s not forget that they have been instrumental in breathing life into the superhero genre and keeping the movie industry afloat.

Actor Sebastian Stan, known for his role in “Thunderbolts,” defends Marvel Studios amidst recent criticisms. In an interview with Variety while appearing on “The Apprentice,” he spoke about reprising his character Bucky Barnes and the criticism directed towards Marvel Studios. Stan, who stars in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” feels it has become trendy to blame Marvel for all the issues plaguing the film industry. Some online communities use Marvel as a shorthand for “big studio movies.” Despite his close association with Kevin Feige and the team at the studio, Stan dislikes them being an easy target. He acknowledges that during the 2020 theater shutdowns and subsequent recovery, many cinemas have been thankful for big-budget films like Marvel’s that bring people back to theaters. In his view, Marvel plays a significant role in this capacity.

Stan asserted, “It’s become quite effortless to criticize Marvel films, and that’s okay because everyone has their own viewpoint. However, it’s crucial to remember that they significantly influence the industry, helping us also enjoy lesser-known productions.

Stan went on, “This is a vital conduit running throughout the intricate workings of Hollywood’s machinery. It provides nourishment in ways that people often underestimate. At times, I find myself guarding it because the purpose behind it is genuinely noble. However, it can be incredibly challenging to consistently create a good movie.

2023 was a tough year for the film industry, and I, as a gamer, wasn’t immune to its struggles. Even in 2024, it seems like every month brings another article bemoaning the fact that we’re still not back to pre-pandemic movie-going numbers. It feels like these analyses are ignoring the elephants in the room – there are so many factors that have changed film consumption habits over the past four years.

Thunderbolts* Is Still Shrouded In Secrecy

2025 seems poised for another Marvel blockbuster year. “Thunderbolts”*, a title from the MCU that might be least familiar to fans, is currently under discussion. ComicBook recently interviewed David Harbour about the various fan theories regarding “Thunderbolts”*. It appears he’s deliberately evasive in revealing details. However, he expresses optimism that comic book enthusiasts will appreciate the subtle references they’ve included.

Harbour stated that he’s transitioned away from AI-related articles because they often don’t resemble proper English, and he wonders who writes them. However, he mentioned that it could potentially be risky since he doesn’t want a multitude of opinions about him floating around. Interestingly, he found it accurate to the comics, which he appreciated. He also added that there may be some confusion regarding people’s understanding of the comics compared to those who have actually read them.

It seems many experts express frustration about certain aspects, but upon closer examination, one might find alternative interpretations. Interestingly, I find it surprising since Red Guardian isn’t involved in the Thunderbolts storyline, as far as I know. However, it appears they are adding new elements and catching us off guard. Yet, there’s a lot of attention paid to making it consistent with the comic books as well.

In creating a movie, you won’t find much help from looking outside for criticism as everyone has an opinion once they see the poster. Essentially, they should watch the entire two-hour film and if they still dislike it, fine. If they love it, great! However, it’s essential to give us a chance. I believe that all the speculation in the world is like my daydreams about certain events or outcomes. You can imagine terrible things until you see the actual movie. I’m extremely proud of this film we made. It seems to be playing well within the studio, and I’m eager for people to watch it. I think it will surprise many. From the trailer and the shots shown, I believe it’s an intriguing direction that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is taking now. I’m thrilled to be part of this exciting journey.
