Marvel Comics is releasing a series of new What If…? one-shot comics to mark the 50th anniversary of the popular series. The first, What If…? Uncanny X-Men #1, written by Gerry Duggan with art by Jan Bazaldua, comes out on June 3rd. What If…? Thor #1, from Torunn Grønbekk and Sergio Dávila, will follow on June 17th.

The Hand’s plans ultimately failed in the finale of The Defenders when their headquarters collapsed, all their leaders died, and the source of their power—the Dragon’s bones—was removed from the MCU. This makes its reappearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day all the more unexpected.
