Denise Pieniazek of Puesta En Escena notes that while the film is based on the 2004 French movie Le Convoyeur, director Guy Ritchie has completely reimagined the story, changing its overall feel and style. Keith Garlington of Keith and the Movies agrees, saying the film maintains a consistently dark and serious tone, with complex characters, and that Statham is perfectly suited to Ritchie’s gritty world.
