In contrast to being Superman’s most physically powerful adversary, Lex Luthor excels in intellect over brute force. Throughout the story of Superman, he devises numerous strategies to vex his arch-nemesis. For instance, he summons kaiju to assault Metropolis and imprisons Superman in a universe’s pocket with a guard who can conjure kryptonite on command. However, Lex reserves his most cunning scheme for the climax: releasing a Superman clone and orchestrating a rift in dimensions that threatens to tear apart Metropolis itself.
Superman struggled to defeat Lex, but luckily Mister Terrific and Krypto stepped in to help. Although it’s understandable that Superman needed some assistance since he’s still new to the superhero game, there are other DC heroes who could have dealt with Lex more swiftly.
1) Batman
In the DC Universe, Batman’s intelligence is unrivaled, making it challenging for Lex Luthor to outsmart him in a battle of wits. Sending a character like Ultraman might temporarily distract Batman, but it won’t take long before he recognizes that he’s facing a Superman duplicate. With Ultraman out of the picture, Lex Luthor will find it difficult to evade Batman’s retribution.
2) Martian Manhunter
Although Lex harbors many secrets, he maintains a broad group of confidants. Martian Manhunter could effortlessly blend into this circle using his shape-shifting powers, setting in motion events that would ultimately prove disadvantageous for Lex. The hero’s extraordinary strength would also serve him well when confronting Ultraman and the Engineer in combat.
3) Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman isn’t intimidated by anyone, including a tiny man with low self-esteem. If she finds out that Lex is jeopardizing innocent lives through collaboration with Boravia, she will utilize her extraordinary powers to stop him and prevent further harm. Ultraman might pose a challenge for Wonder Woman, but he isn’t as intelligent as his counterpart, so it’s just a matter of time before he’s defeated.
4) Captain Atom
In the DC Universe, only a handful of characters can match Superman’s might, but Captain Atom possesses the necessary abilities. He can control nuclear energy and boasts an incredibly tough skin. What sets him apart, though, is his military connections. He could potentially use these ties to influence authorities against Lex Luthor, thereby blocking their approval for anyone ending up in the pocket universe prison. Essentially, Captain Atom’s power isn’t just physical – it lies in his political influence as well.
5) Hal Jordan
In a different phrasing, the character Green Lantern, specifically Guy Gardner, tends to aid others only when it serves his own interests. On the other hand, Hal Jordan exhibits a more positive demeanor. If Hal confronts Lex Luthor, their encounter won’t last long. He has the ability to imprison Ultraman effortlessly and manage the Metropolis rift that’s causing destruction. The challenge for Hal Jordan would be selecting the appropriate green cell to incarcerate Lex Luthor.
6) John Stewart
As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m genuinely excited about the DC Studios TV series, “Lanterns.” Instead of Hal Jordan, we’ll witness a younger John Stewart stepping into the spotlight, with Hal acting as his guide. Despite his youth, John is more than capable of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Hal against formidable foes like Lex. His uncorrupted heart, a vital trait in the Green Lantern universe, sets him apart. Moreover, his military background provides an edge when battling adversaries such as Ultraman and the Engineer. I can’t wait to see this dynamic duo in action!
7) Captain Marvel
1) Although Billy Batson may be young, as Captain Marvel, he delivers quite a powerful blow. The magic that this hero wields could give Superman trouble, and it’s likely to cause the same issue for Ultraman. Despite the fact that Captain Marvel is still in elementary school, Lex Luthor should not underestimate another muscular superhero wearing a cape when it comes to closing the rift.
8) Doctor Fate
In a bold move, Lex establishes a universe within a pocket where he believes he holds dominion. This act is likely to provoke many DC heroes, but Doctor Fate stands out as the one best suited to teach the villain a lesson. With powers granted by his helmet and a repertoire that includes more than just punches, Doctor Fate has demonstrated an impressive range of abilities in the past.
9) Firestorm
Martin Stein could likely overpower Lex alone, but teaming up is more effective. With Ronnie Raymond, Stein transforms into the potent Firestorm, capable of altering any item. If Lex’s Raptors were to transform into rubber ducks, they wouldn’t stand a chance for long.
10) The Flash
There’s a lot of discussion about whether Superman is faster than The Flash, but it’s not his speed that stands out in James Gunn’s movie portrayal. If any Flash character like Barry Allen or Wally West were to appear in Metropolis, Lex Luthor wouldn’t be prepared. The Flash can circle the globe in a mere blink of an eye and foil all the villain’s schemes.
