7 Coolest Batsuits That Haven’t Appeared in DC Movies Yet

Batman faces a never-ending struggle in the DC Universe. He’s constantly dealing with threats from aliens, criminals, and villains from different dimensions, all of whom are plotting to endanger everything. Unlike heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman, Batman is vulnerable to injury, so he relies heavily on preparation and strategy. While his intelligence is his greatest strength, allowing him to anticipate almost any challenge – even betrayal from allies – he also equips himself with highly advanced, gadget-filled suits to give him an edge.

Just because a Batsuit looks great in a comic book doesn’t mean it would work in a movie. Actors need to be able to breathe and move comfortably! That’s why the Batman films usually stick to more practical designs. Here are seven of the most awesome Batsuits we haven’t seen on the big screen yet.

7) Azrael Suit

Even Bruce Wayne, as dedicated as he is to being Batman, needs time off. When he does, Jean-Paul Valley steps in as the hero, and makes a few adjustments to the suit. While the extra thigh pouches aren’t necessary, the rest of the design is effective, particularly the red eyes, which reflect Valley’s harsher methods of fighting crime in Gotham.

6) Batman Beyond Suit

When Bruce Wayne decides to retire as Batman, Terry McGinnis steps up to take his place. The suit Terry wears as the new Batman is very different from Bruce’s, reflecting the story’s futuristic world. A particularly striking feature is the mask, which completely covers his face – unlike the previous Batman’s, it doesn’t leave his chin exposed.

5) DC Rebirth Suit

DC frequently relaunches its comic book universe as a simple way to boost sales. Another common tactic is to update the appearance of a well-known character. For example, during the ‘DC Rebirth’ era, Batman wore a black and gray suit—a familiar look—but the addition of gold accents really made it stand out. It’s too bad this particular suit wasn’t used for more than a short time.

4) Flashpoint Batman Suit

In the Flashpoint timeline, Bruce Wayne tragically dies in Crime Alley, reversing the fate of his parents. However, a Batman still emerges – but it’s Thomas Wayne who takes on the mantle. After adopting the Batman persona, Thomas brings a brutal form of justice to Gotham, and his intimidating red and black suit makes a powerful statement.

3) Absolute Batman Suit

Absolute Universe offers a fresh take on the DC story, completely changing Batman’s origins. Instead of being born into wealth, Bruce Wayne is a working-class man who fights crime as a vigilante in his spare time. He doesn’t have access to vast riches, so he builds a functional, spiked costume and uses a hammer as part of his crime-fighting gear.

2) Gotham By Gaslight Suit

In Gotham by Gaslight, the story is set in the 1800s, so Batman can’t rely on today’s technology. Instead, he uses his incredible intelligence to track down Jack the Ripper, who begins causing problems in Gotham City. During his investigation, Batman wears a unique, steampunk-style suit with a large cloak, making him look fantastic while solving the mystery.

1) Blue and Gray Suit

This last Batman suit doesn’t come from a different reality or timeline. When Batman wants a change from his usual dark look, he wears a blue-and-gray suit with a bright yellow-and-black emblem that really captures the heroic image we all love. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn knows fans are eager to see this suit in a movie, and since it hasn’t appeared on screen yet, it definitely deserves a place on this list.
