Although Mahershala Ali hasn’t yet appeared as Blade in a live-action film, the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law brought a powerful vampire into the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2022. A legal comedy seemed like an unusual place to introduce vampires, which aren’t typically known for being funny. However, this particular vampire, with centuries of experience, proved to have excellent comedic timing, and She-Hulk could pave the way for more vampires to appear in the MCU.
Even though he wasn’t a central character in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Saracen’s first appearance as part of Emil Blonsky’s retreat, Summer Twilight, officially introduced vampires into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we haven’t seen Saracen use any vampire powers yet, and the character himself (played brilliantly by Terrence Clowe) claimed to be one, there’s no reason to doubt his identity. Saracen’s arrival in the MCU establishes one of Marvel’s strongest vampires and creates opportunities for more to appear in the future.
Saracen’s MCU Debut Opened the Door for Even More Vampires, Including Blade

Saracen first appeared in Marvel’s Blade: Vampire Hunter #1 in 1999. He was presented as one of the Ancient, a group of incredibly old vampires. He spent centuries hiding under the Vatican with his servant, until he was awakened to summon another servant, the Reaper demon. Other members of the Ancient include vampires like Verdelet, Boy, Maracen, Lamia, and the famous Nosferatu. They are generally believed to be the offspring of the Marvel villain Lilith.
The appearance of Saracen in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law suggests that other members of the powerful, ancient vampire lineage could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If Saracen’s character is based on the Marvel Comics vampire of the same name, these ancient vampires—who are stronger than typical vampires—could be a significant threat to Blade in the upcoming reboot. It would be exciting to see Saracen’s character developed further, perhaps alongside Blade, and this could even help explain some unanswered questions from the She-Hulk series.
Saracen’s father was briefly mentioned in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but his identity is still a mystery. Fans have speculated he might be someone like Dracula or even Blade, but we don’t know for sure. Some believe it would be a better story choice to introduce Lilith, rumored to be played by Mia Goth in the upcoming Blade reboot, as Saracen’s mother. This would give Saracen a more important role, provide Blade with a powerful enemy, and allow the Marvel Cinematic Universe to explore more supernatural themes.
