Catwoman often appears as a supporting character in Batman stories, but she’s become a well-known DC antihero on her own. While she usually shines when portrayed as Batman’s ally or love interest, her solo movie appearances haven’t been very successful—in fact, her only standalone film is considered one of the worst ever made. Fortunately, Catwoman has had better luck on television, with several DC shows offering strong interpretations of the character.
Like different versions of Batman cartoons, the quality of Catwoman’s animated appearances on TV has varied a lot. This list focuses on animated TV shows where Catwoman plays an important part, and which ones captured her character the most effectively. Over the years, animated depictions of Catwoman have been hit or miss – some are great, while others aren’t as successful.
8) The New Adventures of Batman

Many fans consider The New Adventures of Batman to be a low point for animated Batman shows. It continued the over-the-top, playful style of the 1960s live-action series. The animated version of Catwoman, voiced by Melendy Britt, was particularly disliked. Her flat delivery, strange habit of meowing, and consistently evil behavior made her, in the eyes of many, the worst animated Catwoman ever.
7) Teen Titans Go!

While Teen Titans Go! is a popular and generally well-regarded DC animated series, not every portrayal of its characters has been successful. For example, the show’s version of Catwoman was a disappointing simplification. Instead of the complex, morally ambiguous antihero fans know, she was reduced to basic cat-like behavior, making her appear silly rather than genuinely villainous. It’s amusing at times, but it doesn’t do the character justice.
6) DC Super Hero Girls

DC Super Hero Girls is a DC animated series designed for younger viewers, and that influences how its characters are portrayed. Catwoman appears as the leader of the Super Villain Girls, with Cree Summers providing the voice. This version of Catwoman is presented as a particularly annoying and straightforward villain, which fits the show’s style but doesn’t offer a nuanced depiction of the character for its young audience.
5) Batman: The Brave and the Bold

While Batman: The Brave and the Bold had fantastic character designs and a visually appealing art style, the writing wasn’t always strong. This was particularly noticeable with their version of Catwoman. Though her design cleverly referenced the Silver Age comics and looked great, the character felt underdeveloped. Nika Futterman voiced the role, but this Catwoman was disappointingly simple and didn’t appear in the show’s most memorable episodes.
4) Batman: Caped Crusader

A new animated version of Catwoman, based on her classic Silver Age look, appeared in Batman: Caped Crusader, with Cristina Ricci providing the voice. Small changes to her origin story added depth and made her a compelling character. However, because Catwoman wasn’t used much in the series, this version didn’t quite stand out compared to other popular interpretations.
3) The Batman

The 2004 animated series The Batman is a standout Batman show, and its portrayal of Catwoman is particularly well done. Voiced by Gina Gershon, this version of the character is written with more depth and complexity than previous interpretations. While her costume’s ear design was a bit unusual, The Batman‘s Catwoman is still considered excellent.
2) Batman: The Animated Series

Batman: The Animated Series is a classic DC show, celebrated for how it reimagines Batman’s world. Many fans consider the show’s version of Catwoman, voiced by Adrienne Barbeau, to be the definitive portrayal of the character. Her sophisticated design, playful dynamic with Batman, and complex morality all make her a standout animated version.
1) Harley Quinn

The most successful animated portrayals of Batman’s villains really get to the heart of what makes those characters compelling, and the Harley Quinn series does this brilliantly with Catwoman. The show presents Catwoman as Poison Ivy’s former partner, and she’s portrayed as a naturally cool and deceptive character who embodies all of the antihero’s key qualities. From her fantastic costume to Sanaa Lathan’s excellent voice acting, Harley Quinn gives fans everything they could hope for in an animated version of Catwoman.
