Deadpool’s MCU Return Gets Promising 2026 Update

According to a recent report, Deadpool—played by Ryan Reynolds—is expected to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the 2026 film Avengers: Doomsday. While Deadpool’s first two movies were made by 20th Century Fox, he’ll officially be part of the MCU after the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. Avengers: Doomsday will also bring back other X-Men characters from the Fox universe, including Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Cyclops (James Marsden), along with Deadpool.

Alex Perez, a reporter for The Cosmic Circus, addressed a leaked list of potential fight scenes for the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, on X (formerly Twitter). He suggested that Reed Richards (played by Pedro Pascal) is facing the wrong opponent when matched against Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), and followed this up by sharing a GIF of Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) from his expected 2026 film appearance.

When asked about whether Ryan Reynolds would return as Deadpool in 2026, Perez responded with another GIF of the character, essentially confirming it with a simple, “I know, right.”

As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve been hearing for a while that Deadpool is coming to the MCU in a bunch of projects, including what’s likely Avengers 5. There’s been some back and forth about exactly how big his role would be in that movie, but it sounds like someone has finally clarified things – and hopefully, we’ll get some solid details soon!

Marvel Studios has announced that Channing Tatum will reprise his role as Gambit after first appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine, hinting at a possible future team-up.

This news follows a recent report from Daniel Richtman stating that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will have a significant part in the 2027 film, Avengers: Secret Wars. The movie will reportedly bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and feature two versions of Spider-Man, played by Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland.

It’s noteworthy that Ryan Reynolds has also stated he hasn’t started filming for Avengers 5. However, Chris Evans previously denied returning, but was recently confirmed to be reprising his role as Captain America in a future film.

Deadpool Secretly Has a Major Role in Avengers 5 & 6

The movie Deadpool & Wolverine suggests that the Time Variance Authority (TVA) is gathering heroes from different universes for an important mission – potentially to protect the entire timeline. This likely means Deadpool and Wolverine, along with other heroes, will be involved in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars events, joining a larger battle.

If Deadpool (Wade Wilson) is meant to have a significant part in the 2027 film Secret Wars, his appearance in the 2026 movie Doomsday might be smaller. Avengers 5 could introduce audiences to a new team of heroes created by the TVA, potentially leading to them becoming the main saviors of the multiverse in Secret Wars.

It’s intriguing to hear Alex Perez suggest that Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, might battle Reed Richards, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, in the upcoming movie Doomsday. This could mean Marvel Studios has plans for more conflicts between heroes, especially now that there’s talk of fights between the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

If Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom succeeds with his multiversal plan – potentially leading to a win for the Avengers in the next movie and the creation of Battleworld – it might be the original, well-known heroes who ultimately defeat him in the Secret Wars storyline.

Integrating Deadpool into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe will require some adjustments to his character. His strong language and intense violence will likely be softened to fit the PG-13 rating, and he probably won’t be able to directly address the audience anymore with his signature fourth-wall-breaking commentary.
