Chris Hemsworth is set to return as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in 2026. This will be part of Phase 6, which will include two new Avengers films featuring both familiar and new heroes joining forces.
Marvel Studios has released the official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, after a limited theatrical run. You can watch it now!
The latest preview focuses on Thor seeking guidance from Odin, and features the return of his daughter, Love – mirroring Chris Hemsworth’s own daughter’s appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder. Thor asks for the strength to face a new villain, who many believe will be played by Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
I was so excited to see the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday! And can you believe it? Chris Evans is returning as Steve Rogers! It’s amazing, especially after he initially said he wasn’t going to be in the movie. What a surprise!
The new Avengers movie, Doomsday, appears to be heavily focused on the idea of fatherhood. The first trailer revealed that Captain America has a son, and it’s unclear if this will play a significant role in the story of Victor von Doom when the film comes out in 2026.
During a major online event in early 2025, Marvel Studios announced that several actors who previously played X-Men in the Fox-produced films will appear in both Avengers: Doomsday and the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps. The Multiverse Saga will conclude in 2027 with Avengers: Secret Wars, with filming scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026.
Two more short previews of Avengers: Doomsday will play before showings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. A third preview is coming to theaters this week. We still don’t know when the complete trailer for the new Marvel movie will be available.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
