Tatyana Ali is still reeling from the “traumatic” birth of her oldest son Edward.
Tatyana Ali, known for her role in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, described a difficult childbirth experience in 2016, explaining she was restrained while giving birth to her first child with her husband, Vaughn Rasberry.
Tatyana shared with Danielle Fishel on her Pod Meets World podcast that her baby was fully delivered – “They pushed him back inside me,” she explained, “My baby was all the way crowned.”
The 47-year-old, who is also a mother to 6-year-old Alejandro, explained that what she described wasn’t an actual medical procedure. She noted that her records showed her baby, Edward, moved from a very low position – she could see and feel his hair – to a higher position, but didn’t explain how that happened.
She said what they did was extremely dangerous, explaining they could have seriously injured him. This happened after they had held her down and prevented her from moving for several hours.
Tatyana explained that doctors didn’t follow her birth plan, even though she had a very healthy pregnancy.
As she put it, “All of that changed once we got into the hospital.”
After Edward was born, he needed care in the NICU, a special hospital unit for newborns, because of problems his mother, Tatyana, believes were related to the delivery. He is now 9 years old.

She explained that her son couldn’t urinate on his own for several days – around five or six. A pediatric urologist finally helped figure out what was going on, pointing out that the difficult and emergency C-section he experienced during birth likely caused the problem. The doctor believed the trauma of the birth was preventing him from being able to pee.
After realizing her difficult experience wasn’t unique – in fact, it’s common, particularly for people of color – Tatyana decided to use it as a chance to raise awareness and advocate for change.
I’ve been aware of this for a long time, and it breaks my heart. Black women are significantly more likely – three to four times more likely – to die during childbirth. What’s frustrating is that people often dismiss it, assuming it’s simply due to other health issues they might have. It’s a deeply unfair and dangerous assumption, and it needs to change.
And now, Tatyana sees the message as her mission.
You know, she finished by saying it was strange being the only one with a microphone shoved in her face. But it really struck me when she explained how she’s decided to embrace everything life throws at her – the good times and the bad – and actually do something meaningful with it all. It was a powerful thought, honestly.

Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her over, and got her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet came dangerously close to her right eye – less than an inch away.
According to the former Kim Possible star, a small piece of something is stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, and they’ll continue to monitor the situation, as their vision is currently normal.
The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared her deep love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that facing a life-threatening situation made her realize how precious life is. She urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and show them affection whenever possible, because things can change quickly.

As a lifestyle expert, I always say, sometimes the internet can actually be a good thing! That’s certainly been true for me recently. After doing some press, people started commenting on my face, and honestly, it felt like a bit of a pile-on. But then something amazing happened – doctors actually started chiming in on the comments, expressing concern that something might be medically wrong. They thought I might have Cushing syndrome, possibly due to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. It was so strange to be ‘trolled’ by doctors! It made me realize I had been getting steroid injections for things like scar tissue from a breast reduction and my C-section. Turns out, those injections gave me Cushing syndrome, something I never would have discovered without all the online attention. Honestly, I’m just so relieved it’s a form that will resolve on its own and I’m healthy. It’s the best news I could have asked for!

I was so worried when I heard about what happened to Tom Fitzgerald’s son back in December 2024 – he was unfortunately cut by a skate during a game and needed 25 stitches! Thankfully, he made a full recovery, and his dad, Tom Fitzgerald, shared with ESPN how incredibly relieved they were. He said, and it really struck me, ‘We’re very lucky. I don’t wish that on any parent.’ It was such a scary situation, and you could really feel his relief and empathy.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly began to have stroke-like symptoms, unable to speak and noticing her face drooping. Although these symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), often called a mini-stroke. Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better, adding that they were grateful he was going to be okay. It had been a scary and unexpected situation, but he was expected to make a full recovery.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he was suffering from a severe headache when he suddenly lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. Doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.
After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed them all.

The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.
She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembers only darkness, followed by light, which led her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a severe headache at the gym, followed by intense pain and vomiting. She quickly realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, describing the pain as unbearable. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.
Though she recovered and was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan showed the aneurysm had grown, requiring a second surgery. This procedure was unsuccessful, causing a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia is now fully recovered and says she’s “at a hundred per cent.”

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support after she suffered a stroke in January 2024. She said she’s been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise doing great.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she revealed she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and digestive problems that made eating painful. For years, she received conflicting diagnoses from different doctors.
Determined to find answers, Woodley combined traditional medical care with holistic approaches, drawing on her background in herbalism and working with independent healers. This search for well-being lasted a decade.
The physical discomfort led to deeper emotional struggles, including fear of food, body dysmorphia, and questions about her identity and self-image. However, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now happy to report she’s fully recovered and feeling very healthy.
