Bleach Creator Teases Major Change to Thousand-Year War Finale

As a longtime fan, I’m really looking forward to seeing how Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War wraps up in 2026. After a tough fight for Ichigo and the Soul Reapers in the first three parts of this return, it looks like the final arc is going to be huge for everyone involved. At Jump Festa this year, the creator, Tite Kubo, let slip that we can expect some major surprises when the anime comes back, including a completely new story element that wasn’t even in the original manga!

During the recent Jump Festa presentation for Bleach, creator Tite Kubo announced that the final arc of the Thousand-Year Blood War anime will include entirely new scenes not found in the original manga. Kubo expressed excitement about seeing how these original additions will be animated. Having finished the Bleach manga some time ago, Kubo has been collaborating closely with Studio Pierrot to expand on the story for the anime, as fans have already seen in earlier episodes.

The Blood War Rages On

Along with the announcement of new content for the final arc of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, creator Tite Kubo shared an update with fans about the anime’s progress. He’s nearly finished supervising all the storyboards and related materials for the final season, titled ‘The Calamity,’ and about half of the voice acting is complete. Kubo feels this marks a significant milestone and notes he’s been heavily involved in all aspects of production, believing it’s shaping up very well – and that he’s personally excited to see the finished product.

At the time of this writing, it’s unclear what the future holds for Bleach after the Blood War arc concludes. While creator Tite Kubo has planned a new manga chapter called Bleach: No Breaths From Hell, it hasn’t been confirmed if the story will continue beyond that. It would be exciting to see this new story, which takes place years after the battle with the Sternritter and features a known supernatural enemy, adapted into an anime, but the studio Pierrot hasn’t made any announcements about that yet. Regardless of whether Bleach continues past the fight with Yhwach, the series has rightfully earned its place among the most popular anime of all time, often referred to as one of the “Big Three.”
