I just finished watching ‘Apex’ on Netflix, and it’s a real ride! It stars Charlize Theron as this incredibly capable climber and adrenaline junkie who finds herself facing off against a ruthless serial killer, played by Taron Egerton. It’s seriously suspenseful, and definitely not for the faint of heart – there’s a good amount of gore. What I also really appreciated was the music; it had this cool, sometimes daring soundtrack, alongside a really well-crafted score that kept the tension high.
Both Theron and Egerton have received critical acclaim for their work, but their new film, Apex, might surprise audiences. It features Egerton in a particularly unsettling performance – his most chilling yet.
The music in Apex was primarily composed by Högni Egilsson, known professionally as Högni. He’s previously created soundtracks for several projects directed by Apex’s director, Baltasar Kormákur, including the series Katla, the film Touch, and the BBC One series King & Conqueror.
Having previously worked together on ‘King & Conqueror’, ‘Apex’ is the fourth time Egilsson has collaborated with director Kormákur.

Charlize Theron as Sasha in Apex.
As a film buff, I really appreciated the music in Apex. It’s not a huge soundtrack, but it’s incredibly effective – it really amplified the emotional impact of the scenes, especially those focusing on Sasha and Ben. If you’re interested, I’ve included the complete list of music used in the film below.
