The Persona series is a hugely popular Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), right up there with Final Fantasy. It started back in 1996 with a game called Revelations: Persona, and since then, Atlus has released five main games, along with several updated versions and spin-offs. It’s been a while since the release of Persona 5 in 2016, and fans are eagerly anticipating what Atlus has planned for 2026—the series’ 30th anniversary, which could bring some major announcements and celebrations.
Major franchises often mark significant anniversaries, and 30 years is a huge achievement. In 2026, Persona will join another popular Japanese franchise, Pokemon, in celebrating its 30th birthday. It appears Atlus, the company behind Persona, is planning a large-scale celebration, similar to what The Pokemon Company is doing. They recently launched a dedicated website for the Persona 30th anniversary and released a teaser for their first major announcement of the year.
New Persona 30th Website To Get First Update on January 8th, 2026

So, Atlus just dropped some awesome news! They celebrated 30 years of the Persona series on December 31st with a cool new piece of artwork on their Twitter. But get this – they also linked to a brand new website dedicated to the 30th anniversary! They’re saying to keep an eye out for ‘#P30th’ updates, which basically means more news is coming. And it sounds like we won’t have to wait too long – they hinted at something being revealed about what’s coming in 2026! I’m super hyped!
The official Persona 30th Anniversary website now has a confirmed date for its next update: January 8th, 2026. While the announcement doesn’t reveal what the update will be, it’s likely to include a first look at something new to celebrate the anniversary. Fans are already speculating about what might be revealed.

The art showcases characters from the original Persona game, which fans haven’t seen in a while. This has sparked hope that Atlus might release updated versions of Revelations: Persona and Persona 2 in 2026 to celebrate the series’ anniversary. While revisiting these classic games would be fantastic, Atlus hasn’t confirmed any plans for them yet.
Many fans are also hoping to hear about Persona 6 in 2026. It’s been ten years since the release of Persona 5 without a new main game, although we’ve seen spin-offs like Persona 5: The Phantom X. A lot of people believe Atlus will mark the franchise’s anniversary in 2026 by finally announcing the next installment in the main series.
Currently, the only new Persona game officially announced is the remake of Persona 4 Golden, which was revealed earlier in 2024. Since that game doesn’t have a release date yet, the major announcement expected on January 8th could simply be a confirmation of its development.
The official website for the 30th anniversary of Persona will receive an update on January 8th, but that’s likely just the beginning of the celebrations. The Persona franchise officially turns 30 on September 20th – the date the first game was released in Japan – so Atlus may reveal more exciting news leading up to that milestone. Persona fans should definitely check the website on January 8th to see what the initial update holds.
