Several popular animated series concluded this year, either finishing their planned stories or being cancelled. 2025 was a notable year for animation, reflecting ongoing changes in the industry. While fewer shows are being created for children due to evolving viewing habits, adult animation is experiencing a surge in popularity.
Several animated series concluded in 2025, with seven endings being particularly noteworthy. These included long-running favorites and, sadly, some shows that didn’t reach their full potential. Regardless, all of these series made a significant impact on the animation landscape with their finales this year.

7). The Tiny Chef Show (Paramount+)
Although many animated shows get cancelled, The Tiny Chef Show stands out because of the strong fan reaction to its ending. After airing three seasons on Nickelodeon, the show found a huge new audience when clips went viral online. It’s a surprising turn of events – a cancellation that doesn’t feel final, and the Tiny Chef is likely to continue appearing online and elsewhere. It’s a rare story of a show finding life after seemingly ending.

6). Jellystone! (HBO Max)
Like The Tiny Chef Show, Jellystone! was cancelled after three seasons, and its last episode doesn’t feel like a true ending – it just feels like a regular, enjoyable installment. However, the final season felt special, featuring highly anticipated crossovers, cameos, and nods to classic Cartoon Network shows. Throughout the season, it really felt like a proper finale, which made it stand out for viewers watching on HBO Max.

5). Solar Opposites (Hulu)
The final season of Solar Opposites was clearly made with the intention of being a series finale, and the creators really went all out. They tied up long-running storylines, resolved all the smaller plots, and gave the main characters a huge, world-ending adventure that felt like a satisfying conclusion. The only reason it’s not ranked higher is the possibility that the show could return with new seasons in the future.
Each season of Solar Opposites usually ends in a way that feels complete, but the show always finds a way to return with a surprising twist. This finale feels similar – it has a stronger sense of closure than previous ones, but the show is flexible enough to come back anytime.

4). Big Mouth (Netflix)
Unlike some shows, Big Mouth clearly signaled that its final season would be its last. As Netflix’s longest-running animated series, it ended with a memorable finale. While the last episode felt a little rushed trying to tie up loose ends, it still left each character with a positive outlook on life after puberty.
The show ends with a definitive and striking image: Nick and his friends walk into a blank, white space, effectively ending the series and wiping out its entire world. It’s a bold and complete conclusion – there’s really no other way to interpret it than as the total destruction of everything we’ve seen.

3). Blood of Zeus (Netflix)
Netflix’s animated series Blood of Zeus concluded this year with a grand finale, exceeding the length of Big Mouth‘s run. The show effectively used its third and final season to build a massive, impactful war between the Gods and Titans. The ending felt truly conclusive, largely thanks to the high stakes of the final battle.
The series finale features a surprising twist involving the main character, but it feels earned considering the show’s focus on Greek mythology and the foreshadowing throughout the season. The final battle was epic and a fantastic conclusion, proving that Greek myths work incredibly well in animated form.

2). Craig of the Creek (Cartoon Network)
Even though the creators of Craig of the Creek knew the show would end, the final season faced unexpected challenges. The number of episodes was reduced mid-production, forcing the team to quickly wrap things up. However, you wouldn’t know any of that from the series finale. It provides a satisfying conclusion – Craig finishes his map – and beautifully suggests what’s next for the characters as they grow up.
Most children’s shows either keep going with endless reruns or rely on streaming to continue, but Craig of the Creek offered a true conclusion. The series wrapped up its story in a way that felt complete, while still leaving room for viewers to imagine what happened to the characters next – something the show had hinted at all along. It’s a really rewarding finale to their adventures.

1). The Great North (Fox)
The animated series The Great North also faced a similar situation. The creators knew season five would be its last, and they clearly dedicated themselves to delivering a strong and fulfilling conclusion. The finale cleverly shifts the focus to Beef’s point of view, revisiting key past events and bringing the show’s central themes to a satisfying close.
The show has a really sweet ending, bringing back all the quirky characters we’ve met and letting them each deliver their signature lines one last time. What makes it truly unique is that it’s the only TV show this year to finish with a special version of Alanis Morissette’s “Thank U” playing over the credits, featuring her in a montage of the season’s highlights.
