It’s natural for fans to have different opinions as a popular show or movie comes to an end, and Stranger Things is no exception. The final season of the Netflix hit recently released, and while critics generally like it (giving it an 84
I saw the Duffer Brothers recently talked to Variety about that petition going around – the one asking for deleted scenes from the last part of the season. It had almost 400,000 signatures! But sadly, they said those scenes just don’t exist. Matt mentioned someone even sent them a list, including a scene of Eleven and Mike going to Camazotz to rescue Will, but he confirmed it was all made up. Ross added that they honestly didn’t film any scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor for the whole season, which is a bit disappointing, but I understand they had a clear vision!
Matt explained that the show had become incredibly popular, leading to a lot of false information spreading online. He said it would take hours to correct everything, but ultimately, he hoped the quality of the show itself would speak for itself and reflect what he and Ross intended. He praised Netflix for their consistent support and trust, noting they’ve never interfered with the creative process, not even as the show’s audience grew. They’ve been fantastic partners since the very beginning.
The Duffer Brothers Have Addressed Stranger Things Misinformation Before

As with most highly anticipated shows, rumors swirled before the release of Stranger Things Season 5. A lot of discussion focused on how long each episode would be. Stranger Things is known for its long episodes – the finale will be a full-length movie – and for a while, many believed we’d get eight episodes that were almost as long. Initial reports suggested each episode could be between 90 and 120 minutes, but the creators, the Duffer Brothers, quickly clarified things by revealing the actual run times for the first part of the season.
I’ve been following the discussions about Stranger Things Season 5, and while the creators, the Duffer brothers, didn’t share the runtimes for Volume 2 right away, I think their recent openness shows they do listen to us fans. They can’t respond to every theory out there, but like James Gunn, they’ll address things when it really matters. This petition, which has been getting a lot of signatures lately, felt like something they needed to see. Even if you think the criticism about Season 5 is too harsh, I think we’d all be excited to see deleted scenes – they could really add depth to the story and answer some of those lingering questions we have.
I’ve noticed the Duffer Brothers have been unusually firm about there being no deleted scenes from the final season of Stranger Things, and honestly, I think it’s because they’re telling the truth! Usually, creators are secretive to keep surprises intact before something comes out, but now that Season 5 is here, there’s nothing to hide. The fact that they’re actively denying any extra footage exists feels like a clear signal that what we saw is all there is. I know a lot of us are heartbroken the show is over and desperately want more, but it seems the Duffer Brothers have truly given us everything they had.
It’s no surprise the creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, had complete creative control over the fifth and final season. The show has been a massive success for Netflix since it began, so the executives trusted them to finish the story as they envisioned. While not everyone will be happy with how things end – that’s just part of being a fan – the Duffers were able to conclude the series on their own terms. Now, as they move forward with a deal at Paramount to make movies, hopefully they’ll have the same freedom and creative license.
