2025 was a fantastic year for anime. We saw a wealth of excellent new shows, and the industry itself experienced some significant changes. Highlights included the One Piece anime breaking a 26-year record and anime films achieving widespread international popularity, making it a truly memorable year for the art form.
Several anime series finished airing in 2025, whether completing their entire story or just a single season, and many of their endings were particularly memorable. While a lot of shows had strong conclusions throughout the year, these five delivered some of the very best.
5) Dandadan Season 2

Everyone was eagerly awaiting the second season of Dandadan, and the finale definitely delivered, leaving viewers wondering what would happen next. The series was already known for its strange and unpredictable story, following Momo and Okarun’s unusual journey, and the ending took things to a whole new level of weirdness. The discovery of an alien girl living inside the kaiju was a big mystery, but her sudden kiss with Okarun was a completely unexpected twist that sets the stage for future events.
The latest events have created even more romantic tension between Momo and Okarun, which fans will likely enjoy seeing unfold in the next season. The ending of Dandadan Season 2 was thrilling and unexpected, making it one of the strongest anime finales of 2025.
4) Gachiakuta Season 1

Released in 2025, Gachiakuta wasn’t just a top anime—many considered it the best new series of the year. It distinguished itself with unique storylines and a memorable main character, and continued to impress as the plot unfolded, demonstrating that fresh takes on the shonen genre can be incredibly successful. Initially, the series presented Rudo as someone motivated by revenge, but he evolved throughout the season, eventually taking on characteristics more commonly seen in classic shonen heroes.
The season ended with a familiar story element – Rudo now seems destined for greatness, like many heroes in action-adventure stories. We learned his family name is connected to important events and characters, a reveal that happened right at the end and left viewers eager to see what happens next season.
3) Dragon Ball Daima

I’ve been absolutely loving Dragon Ball Daima! It started airing right at the end of 2024 and kept going strong into February. The whole series was packed with cool stuff – seeing Vegeta go Super Saiyan 3 was a highlight, and they even threw in some interesting twists to the existing story. But honestly, the ending? The final battle was just incredible and really made the series stand out!
The final battle concluded in a typically funny and over-the-top Dragon Ball fashion. Although fans were hoping to see some character fusions – which were teased throughout the series – the unexpected twist of Majin Kuu becoming the new Demon King, and the revelation that the Evil Eye artifact wasn’t destroyed, really captured the spirit of the franchise. Daima was a fun throwback for dedicated fans, and the ending reinforced that feeling of nostalgia.
2) My Hero Academia Final Season

After almost ten years, My Hero Academia began its final season, which premiered in fall 2025. Many fans consider the series’ ending to be one of the best in recent shonen anime. The finale showed Deku becoming the world’s greatest hero even after losing his powers, delivering a strong message and a satisfying conclusion to the story.
The finale of My Hero Academia was already incredibly satisfying, but it became even more powerful when it was revealed Deku got another opportunity to be a hero. This came eight years after he lost his powers, thanks to a special suit and the unwavering support of his friends. And with the announcement of one more episode coming this spring, the ending might actually become even better than it already was.
1) Takopi’s Original Sin

Fans were excited to see the anime adaptation of Takopi’s Original Sin, knowing the manga was known for being dark. But the anime really highlighted how different, disturbing, and surprisingly real the story was. Though viewers hoped for a satisfying ending to this short series, the finale was even more impactful – a disturbing but ultimately relieving conclusion that felt brutally honest and was unexpected by many.
Shizuka and Marina do eventually become friends, largely thanks to Takopi, but the story subtly shows they’re both still deeply affected by past trauma. This highlights the anime’s main idea: trauma doesn’t just disappear, it permanently changes who you are. This powerful message is what makes the ending of Takopi’s Original Sin the most impactful anime finale of 2025.
