3 Best Movies To Watch On Prime Video This Weekend (Jan 3-4)

Well, December’s over, and that means the fun, festive Christmas movies are fading away. As a Prime Video subscriber, I’m actually looking forward to a change of pace! After all those lighter holiday releases, I think starting 2026 with a darker, more intense movie binge is exactly what I need. It’s time to dive into something a little different.

To kick off the new year with some thrills, I’ve chosen three scary movies, including one from a famous science fiction series. With lots of horror and sci-fi films planned for 2026, I think this weekend’s picks on Prime Video are a great way to get ready for what’s coming up.

3. Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)

Kicking things off is Zombieland: Double Tap, a great movie to watch as you transition from the holidays into January. It’s the follow-up to the popular first Zombieland film, and it reunites the original cast: Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, Emma Stone as Wichita, and Abigail Breslin as Little Rock.

The connection between the characters is still fantastic, and it’s great to see how they’ve grown after years of surviving the zombie apocalypse. The sequel is even funnier than the first, especially with the addition of Zoey Deutch as Madison, who is a standout performer. And, of course, there’s still plenty of intense, gory action with lots of zombie mayhem.

2. Alien: Romulus (2024)

Similar to Zombieland: Double Tap, Alien: Romulus blends different movie genres. But while Zombieland combines comedy and horror, Alien: Romulus mixes science fiction with horror. The sci-fi elements of the Alien franchise expand the movie’s world and make the horror even more frightening.

The new film, Alien: Romulus, stars rising star Cailee Spaeny as a compelling and brave lead character who carries on the legacy of Sigourney Weaver’s iconic Ellen Ripley. It’s also a key watch for casual Alien fans, revealing how the Xenomorph from the original film managed to survive.

1. Final Destination Bloodlines (2025)

Last up in our movie marathon is the newest installment in the Final Destination series. I really enjoyed these films as a kid – they were both terrifying with their over-the-top deaths and fun to watch, as I always tried to guess how each character would meet their fate or escape it.

Final Destination: Bloodlines is a fun and exciting addition to the series, and it doesn’t try to be overly dramatic. The movie kicks off with a fantastic opening scene featuring Brec Bassinger, making it one of the best in the entire franchise, and it’s a thrilling ride from start to finish. Viewers on Prime Video are in for a seriously adrenaline-pumping experience.
