I Binge-Watched Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Docuseries, And There’s One Thing I Wish They Would Have Mentioned

Even though The Eras Tour finished over a year ago, watching the End of the Era documentary felt like stepping right back into that amazing time – all the friendship bracelets, surprise songs, and the excitement from fans were so vivid. I really enjoyed watching the six-part series (along with Eras Tour – The Final Show) during the break between Christmas and New Year’s, but one thing specifically made me stop and think.

End Of An Era Docuseries Showed BTS About Taylor Swift’s Gold Reputation Bodysuit Without One Major Detail

The third episode of Taylor Swift’s “Kismet” documentary takes a look at the elaborate costumes from her Eras Tour, created with the help of long-time stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer. I particularly enjoyed the focus on the very first new outfit from the Reputation era – a gold bodysuit that fans went wild for when she first wore it during a Miami show in October 2024. It was great to see the process behind creating the look, and how audiences reacted both at the concert and online. However, the documentary left out one important detail.

The documentary, The End Of An Era, didn’t explain the intense fan reaction at all. While the film itself is stunning and justified excitement for tour followers, many fans also believed it hinted at the upcoming release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version). Ultimately, Taylor Swift regained ownership of her masters before releasing the album and later said she delayed it because she felt it was already perfect. However, the documentary still leaves out a major reason why it meant so much to her fans.

I Found It Wild That The Series Never Mentioned Something Else About Her Eras Tour Costumes and Her Taylor’s Version Albums

I realize it might have been tricky to fully explain the importance of her Reputation bodysuit in the documentary. However, I was hoping there would be at least some mention of how carefully Taylor planned her tour costumes, and how those choices connected to her album releases. A great example is during the Eras Tour, when she started wearing blue versions of her outfits before announcing 1989 (Taylor’s Version) – that clearly required a lot of coordination between Taylor and her stylist.

During the The Life of a Showgirl tour, Taylor Swift began incorporating a lot of orange into her stage outfits, and fans were fascinated by an orange door that appeared during the show. It seemed like Taylor and her team decided to let fans enjoy the mystery and come up with their own theories, rather than explaining everything. While I appreciated that approach, I still would have loved to hear Taylor discuss it herself.

I really loved watching the documentary, and it answered a lot of the questions fans had about the Eras Tour, which was fantastic.
