It’s been a while since fans last saw what happened with Guts and the Band of the Hawk, and there hasn’t been any news about the next chapter of the Berserk manga. However, Kouji Mori, the writer now continuing the series after the sad loss of creator Kentaro Miura, recently shared some good news. In a New Year’s message, Mori announced his plans for 2026 and confirmed that the manga will continue, meaning the story isn’t over yet.
Kouji Mori recently shared an update on social media, confirming he’ll continue overseeing the Berserk manga in 2026. He jokingly clarified that he won’t be doing the artwork, saying, “Happy New Year! Thank you for your continued support! I’ll be focusing on my own work and continuing to supervise Berserk as much as I can. And don’t worry, I still won’t be drawing Guts! He’s just too hard, and our artist Kurosaki is doing a fantastic job!” Since the original creator, Kentaro Miura, passed away, the artists at Studio Gaga—who previously assisted Miura—have been continuing the story of Guts.
Happy New Year, everyone! I’ll be putting my all into my serial work and supervising Berserk again this year. Just to reassure you, I won’t be drawing Guts in the main story – as usual! He’s a really tough character to draw, though… Kuro-san is truly amazing!

The Black Swordsman’s New Year
The last time we saw Guts, he was in a difficult situation in the country of Kushan. Although Kushan had managed to withstand an attack from Griffith and his demonic Band of the Hawk, they didn’t trust Guts. While his companions were welcomed, Guts’ brand led Kushan’s leaders to suspect he was a spy for the Apostles. They exiled him to a strange cave, and we haven’t seen what awaits him there – but we’ll likely find out this year.
Unfortunately, there’s no good news regarding a new Berserk anime. Since the Berserk: Memorial Edition – which reworked the Golden Age Arc for television – no studio has announced plans to adapt the rest of the manga. While Berserk has been animated before, many years’ worth of story remain untouched. Even the 2016 anime series went beyond the original 1997 adaptation, but still left major battles created by Kentaro Miura un-animated. Though Devil May Cry’s Adi Shankar has suggested a possible Berserk reboot on Netflix, nothing has come of those discussions regarding Guts, Griffith, and Casca.
