Please be aware that this article contains significant spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! Just a year after the original series ended, creator Gege Akutami has returned with a sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki. The story follows the teenage grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, characters briefly shown as children in the original manga’s epilogue. Set 68 years after the Culling Game, Yuka and Tsurugi are now students at Jujutsu Tech High School and training as sorcerers. The Jujutsu world faces a new crisis decades after Ryomen Sukuna’s defeat: over 50,000 Simurians, an alien race with powers similar to sorcerers, have arrived in Japan as refugees, potentially overwhelming the world’s defenses if conflict arises.
The Simurians weren’t looking for a fight either, so both sides initially attempted to find a way to live together peacefully. Unfortunately, a series of miscommunications and a rash action by a sorcerer named Nakamura destroyed any hope of an alliance. After Nakamura fatally shot Cross, the Jujutsu world fell into further chaos because of the threat posed by Dabura. Dabura proposed a duel with one of their sorcerers to resolve the conflict. With the adults unable to compete, Yuka was forced to represent them. Despite being at a significant disadvantage, Yuka might have stood a better chance if she had possessed Rika’s ring, a gift from her grandfather.
Yuka Was Pushed into The Battle Without Her True Trump Card

Yuta left a ring to his granddaughter, a ring that controlled Rika’s abilities. Sadly, after Yuta died, the ring was taken from her and given to Tsurugi. The Gojo Clan agreed the granddaughter shouldn’t have the ring, and it was her own mother who actually took it. For years, Yuka tried to get the ring back from Tsurugi, but he wouldn’t give it up, wanting to prove he was strong enough on his own first. He never got the chance, though, because Yuka deliberately entered a dangerous fight, one she might not survive.
During the fight, Yuka made Dabura participate in a dangerous ritual involving Mahoraga, one that would likely kill them both. Yuka’s only chance of survival depended on defeating both Dabura and Mahoraga, which seemed impossible without help from others. But because the duel would determine the future of the Jujutsu world, outside interference wasn’t allowed. Knowing Yuka was ill and wished to sacrifice herself, Tsurugi challenged Maru, hoping to draw him away from his homeland.
In the most recent chapter, he lost easily to Cross, and just when things looked dire, Rika stepped in to defend him. Given his strong feelings for Yuka and how important Yuka is to the future of the Jujutsu world, the ring should have rightfully been returned to her. It’s unlikely the Gojo Clan doesn’t know about this critical situation, and they might have chosen to return something that originally belonged to Yuka. Even Tsurugi, who is trying to protect Yuka, didn’t think of giving her the ring, even though Rika could have assisted her during the fight.
Yuka Is At a Major Disadvantage Without Rika

While Rika’s help doesn’t ensure Yuka will win, it likely would have improved her chances of survival. Rika earned the title ‘Queen of Curses’ for a reason – the power she gained after being awakened by Yuta is immense. It’s unclear if the duel’s rules prevent them from using cursed tools, as this wasn’t stated, which is strange. Even though few know about her condition, the power gap between Yuka and Dabura is significant and hard to overlook.
Yuka is very sick and her illness will definitely be a disadvantage in the upcoming fight. She only has three months to live, and is already using a wheelchair because she can’t walk on her own, plus her eyesight is failing. She faces a nearly impossible challenge, having to fight both Dabura and Mahoraga, and even if she were to win, her limited lifespan means she’d still pass away soon after. As this series is a short continuation of a previous story, it’s nearing its conclusion. Given her current condition, Yuka would need an extraordinary series of lucky events to survive the ending.
