Marvel Studios recently released a short video hinting at the official theme music for Avengers: Doomsday. The marketing for the upcoming sequel is building excitement with new footage and images, and this latest tease—a snippet of recognizable audio—is sure to get fans anticipating the 2026 release, which is expected to be a major event.
Alan Silvestri, the composer for Avengers: Doomsday, recently posted a video of himself playing the iconic theme music from the upcoming Marvel movie. Shared on his Instagram, the video shows Silvestri at the piano performing the well-known Avengers theme, which has appeared in all four previous team-up films. This same theme is featured in all three official and leaked trailers for Doomsday. You can watch the video below.
Alan Silvestri, known for scoring films like Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, and Night at the Museum, also has a history with Marvel. Over his 53-year career, he’s composed music for four Marvel Cinematic Universe films, starting with Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011, directed by Joe Johnston.
Silvestri became widely known for his memorable theme music for 2012’s The Avengers, which was featured in all three follow-up movies and throughout other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. He composed the music for three of the first four Avengers films, with Brian Tyler and Danny Elfman composing the score for 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. In addition to his work on Doomsday, Silvestri is set to compose the music for the upcoming 2027 film, Avengers: Secret Wars.
You can already hear some of Marco Beltrami’s score for the upcoming Doomsday film. He also composed the music for Doctor Doom’s brief appearance after the credits of The Fantastic Four: First Steps (released in 2025). Though only 25 seconds long, the piece, called “Doom?”, hints at the unsettling and frightening nature of the character’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel’s next Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday, is set to be the fifth team-up movie and the third release in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, will feature a cast of 29 actors and focus on his pursuit of power across the multiverse. It’s scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
How Avengers Theme & Other Music Will Push Doomsday to Success

Alan Silvestri’s theme for The Avengers is now considered one of the most memorable musical scores ever written for a film, especially after its powerful use in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. With the upcoming release of Doomsday, its music is expected to be a major highlight and contribute to the film’s potential to become a massive blockbuster.
The core musical theme of the Avengers will continue to shape the main storyline, but this sequel benefits from incorporating characters from various other franchises. Composer Alan Silvestri has a wealth of existing themes and scores – drawn from both established Marvel Cinematic Universe stories and those that predate 2008 – that he can utilize to represent different heroes and villains.
With the release of the fourth trailer for Doomsday, it’s been confirmed that the X-Men will return, with Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and James Marsden as Cyclops. This gives composer Silvestri the choice of using John Ottman’s theme from the original X-Men films, or the memorable music from X-Men ’97 (or a blend of both), either of which fans would likely love. Since the X-Men ’97 music was already featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ms. Marvel, it seems very likely to reappear in Doomsday.
As a huge film score fan, I’m really hoping they consider bringing in Michael Giacchino’s music from the unreleased Fantastic Four film, First Steps. With the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom being so central to the story, it would be amazing to hear those themes again. Apparently, there’s even a planned fight scene between the Four and Nightcrawler, which would give the composer – likely Silvestri – a fantastic opportunity to weave together the Fantastic Four music, the Avengers’ themes, and even Nightcrawler’s, all in one scene! It could be epic.
The piano theme composed by Silvestri will probably be featured prominently in all future trailers for this film, and the movie’s music is expected to be a major topic of discussion leading up to the sequel’s release.
