Prime Video has a massive selection of movies, and a few really stand out as essential viewing this week. As one of the first streaming services, Prime Video quickly built a huge library with something for everyone. They’ve also started creating their own original shows and films.
With so many movies constantly being added and removed from Prime Video, finding something to watch can be tough. But a few films really shine and are perfect for cozy winter evenings. Whether you’re into new action movies or timeless dark comedies, Amazon Prime Video has a wide variety to offer.
3. The King Of Comedy (1982)
Many film fans consider Martin Scorsese’s The King of Comedy to be one of his most overlooked masterpieces, and it’s a movie everyone should try to see. Robert De Niro plays an aspiring comedian who obsessively pursues a famous talk show host, desperate to launch his career. The film is a darkly funny and surprisingly moving story that isn’t afraid to be difficult to watch.
As a huge fan, I always say that Robert De Niro and Jerry Lewis really carry this movie. Beyond the acting, it’s fascinating how the film breaks down what we think we know about celebrities and fame. And honestly, with it being on Prime Video, it’s perfect for rewatching – every time I see The King of Comedy, I notice something new and appreciate just how brilliant and dark it truly is.
2. Companion (2025)
Tech thrillers are everywhere these days, but Companion offers a fresh take on the genre. The story follows Iris, who discovers she’s a robot while on a weekend getaway with her partner and his friends. She then has to go on the run to prove her innocence after being accused of murder. Featuring a talented cast of up-and-coming actors, Companion is a fast-paced and exciting movie that blends thrills with both humor and horror.
Instead of relying on typical sci-fi tropes, the movie Companion cleverly uses the genre to offer insights into society. Sophie Thatcher delivers a standout performance, and she’s joined by rising stars Jack Quaid and Harvey Guillén. Despite its small budget, Companion was one of the best films of 2025.
1. A Working Man (2025)
Jason Statham often excels in straightforward, action-packed roles, and A Working Man fits that mold perfectly. He plays a retired special forces operative forced back into action when the daughter of his construction foreman is kidnapped. The story itself mainly serves as a setup for the film’s many exciting action sequences.
If you’re looking for a silly and enjoyable action movie, look no further than A Working Man. Jason Statham does what he does best – takes on a lot of enemies while making witty remarks – and delivers a genuinely fun 100-minute experience. With so much available on Prime Video, this 2025 film is a great choice for lighthearted entertainment.
