A lesser-known anime series on Crunchyroll, from the ‘isekai’ genre, is returning for a second season after a four-year wait, and the characters have been redesigned. 2026 is already shaping up to be a big year for anime fans, with a lot of exciting shows planned, especially in the Winter season. Crunchyroll will have many exclusive titles, and this returning series could become a standout hit among their vast library.
The anime series Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs premiered in 2022 and was a major hit in Japan. A second season was announced soon after, but there havenāt been many updatesāuntil now! The new season is scheduled to release later this year, and it features a redesigned look for all the characters compared to the first season. You can see the updated character designs below.
Trapped in a Dating Sim Season 2 Confirms 2026 Release

I’m so excited for Season 2 of Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs! We don’t have an exact release date yet, but it’s coming out sometime this year! What’s even better is that the whole original voice cast is returning, including Takeo Otsuka as Leon, Kana Ichinose as Olivia, Fairouz Ai as Angelica, Ayane Sakura as Marie, Akira Ishida as Luxion, and so many others like Kenichi Suzumura as Julius, Kosuke Toriumi as Jilk, Shinnosuke Tachibana as Brad, Koji Yusa as Chris, and Nobuyuki Hiyama as Greg. It’s going to be amazing to hear them all again!
You know what’s really interesting about the new season? Even though Leon looks totally different, it’s awesome to see the same team behind the scenes returning! Kazuya Miura is directing again with ENGI, and we’ve got Kenta Ihara on scripts and Masahiko Suzuki handling character designs ā just like Season 1. It definitely makes me hope they can bring that same energy and maybe even refresh other aspects of the production too!
What Is Trapped in a Dating Sim?

The first season of Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs, which originally came out in 2022, is now available to stream on Crunchyroll with both Japanese and English audio options. It’s not yet known if the second season will also be available on Crunchyroll, but more details will be announced closer to its release in the coming weeks.
This series is a really enjoyable take on the Isekai genre. The main character finds himself reborn into a dating sim designed for women, only to discover he’s a minor, unimportant character. Determined to change things up, Leon sets off on a chaotic and unpredictable journey. It’s definitely worth watching!
