Here are 5 great shows to watch on Paramount+ this week, from January 5th to 9th, 2026: a new crime drama, a beloved Western, an intense spy thriller, a hilarious comedy, and a show that’s perfect if you enjoyed Tulsa King.
As a total movie and TV buff, I’m always looking for what’s worth my time, and Ebaster’s weekly guides are a lifesaver! They break down the best stuff on all the big streaming services – Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, and now Paramount+ – and this week’s picks look really good. They’ve highlighted five shows, both classic and brand new, that I’m already planning to binge-watch all week long!
Girl Taken
The new Paramount+ series, Girl Taken, arrives this Thursday, January 8th. All six episodes of this thrilling crime drama will be available at once, making it ideal for watching all in one go.
The new series Girl Taken tells the story of twin sisters whose lives are shattered when their teacher kidnaps one of them. The series follows the sister’s years-long captivity and eventual escape. Based on Hollie Overtone’s novel, Girl Taken is the only completely new show debuting on Paramount+ this week and is expected to be a major hit for the streaming service in early 2026.
Longmire
Many consider Longmire to be one of the best Western shows of recent years. Before Yellowstone premiered in 2018, and after Longmire finished its six-season run of 63 episodes in 2017, it was arguably the top crime drama in the neo-Western genre.
If you enjoy shows like Yellowstone or anything created by Taylor Sheridan, you’ll likely love Longmire. It’s a must-watch! The series centers around Walt Longmire, a Wyoming sheriff who’s tough but good-humored as he solves crimes and copes with personal loss. You can now find Longmire streaming exclusively on Paramount+, after it originally appeared on Netflix.
The Bureau
If you enjoyed the 2024 Showtime series The Agency: Central Intelligence with Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, and Richard Gere, you’ll likely love The Bureau. This French spy thriller served as the inspiration for The Agency and ran for five seasons (50 episodes) on Paramount+ from 2015 to 2020.
Both The Agency and The Bureau are spy dramas, but The Bureau focuses on a secretive, almost legendary division within the French intelligence service. It’s considered one of the best French TV series of the 21st century and currently ranks #163 on IMDB’s list of top TV shows. If you’re a fan of political thrillers such as The Diplomat, you’ll likely enjoy The Bureau as well.
Workaholics
Workaholics was a hugely popular Comedy Central show of the 2010s, alongside hits like Broad City and Nathan For You, and it remains funny and relevant even now. The series helped launch the careers of comedic actors including Adam Devine, Anders Holm, Blake Anderson, and Jillian Bell.
If you’re looking for a funny show to binge-watch, especially if you enjoy comedies like Pineapple Express or This is the End, Workaholics is a great choice. It’s considered one of the best stoner comedies ever made, and with 7 seasons and 86 episodes, there’s plenty to enjoy whether you’re a first-time viewer or a longtime fan.
Brotherhood
Brotherhood is a crime thriller series, originally released in 2006, that’s now available on Paramount+. Starring Jason Isaacs and Jason Clarke, the show follows two brothers in an Irish-American neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island, who find themselves on opposing sides of the law. Though it originally aired years ago, it remains a compelling watch.
If you’re into gritty crime dramas like Tulsa King or Mayor of Kingstown, let me tell you about Brotherhood. It’s a show I recently discovered on Paramount+ and I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it! It ran for three seasons, giving us 29 episodes to really get invested. Created by Blake Masters, who’s also worked on shows like 2 Guns and Sneaky Pete, it reminds me of classic shows like The Sopranos and The Wire – seriously, if you loved those, you need to check this one out. It’s criminally underrated, in my opinion, and a perfect binge-watch.
