Every year, companies flock to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to unveil their latest products. But HP consistently stands out, announcing a particularly large number of laptops – and this year’s models are especially innovative.
The HP EliteBook X 14 (G2) series appears to be a typical high-end business laptop, but it stands out with its incredibly lightweight aluminum build and a huge range of customization options—you can even choose between Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm processors.
I got a chance to test an early version of the Intel-powered EliteBook X 14, but this article focuses on the final product. Here’s what you should know about this exciting new laptop from CES 2026 – it lets you customize it with the processor that best fits your needs. If you’re looking for a powerful and portable laptop in 2026, this one is worth watching.
Endless options to make the perfect laptop

Even if you ignore the main new feature of the HP EliteBook X 14 (G2) series, you’ll still find a huge number of ways to customize your laptop. Beyond the usual choices for memory and storage, HP offers a lot of extra options.
You have a lot of choices when it comes to the display, including OLED, IPS LCD, and even advanced Tandem OLED options, to fit your needs and price range. Plus, you can add 5G connectivity and upgrade to a haptic touchpad. Most models also come in three colors: silver, dark grey, and blue.
The EliteBook X 14 (G2) will likely be expensive, but you get what you pay for – the ability to customize it with the exact features you need. What’s really notable is that it comes in versions powered by Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm processors.
HP’s new EliteBook X offers a huge range of customization options, letting you tailor it to exactly what you need – and that includes picking the perfect processor.
You might think companies could easily switch between processors from different manufacturers, but it’s actually quite difficult. Laptops usually don’t offer multiple processor choices unless there are other significant changes to their design or features, and these choices aren’t typically available when the laptop first comes out.
In 2026, new processors from Intel (Core Ultra Series 3), AMD (Ryzen AI 400-series), and Qualcomm (Snapdragon X2) will be available. This gives laptop buyers a lot of choices, as each processor has different advantages and disadvantages. HP is uniquely dedicated to supporting all these platforms, as demonstrated by their EliteBook X 14 (G2) series.
These models are so similar in appearance and features that your choice really comes down to which processor you like best. I’m excited to see this trend continue, as competition between Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm is pushing them to innovate, which ultimately benefits consumers like us.
The HP EliteBook X 14 (G2) laptops will be released in Spring 2026, though HP hasn’t announced how much they will cost. I recently had a chance to try out the Intel version of the EliteBook X 14 (G2) before CES 2026, and can share more details about it.
